https://dl.flipkart.com/dl/refollium-calcium-10... Came across these tablets on Flipkart and wanted to know if they are helpful for improving calcium (bone strength) and other vitamin levels.

If not this, what do you consume for general wellness (esp around vitamin b12 ,d3, calcium, potassium etc)? share its link.

PS: I was not an advocate of supplements, but need them now.

Perplexingly low price. One of the lowest prices I could find from a not totally unknown company (Moreoen Labs) for just Vit. D3 1k, 10 capsules is Rs 28 on Truemeds. Yesterday came across a company selling 80! capsules of 60k! IU of Vit. D3 on Amazon. Too good to be true?

If consuming dairy products and/or eggs B12 should be taken care of. The liver stores upto 5 years worth of the RDA.

Zn, Mg should be easily met from a balanced diet incorporating a variety of foods.

One shouldn't consume supplements blindly. Best to get tests carried out of the few hard to get vitamins depending upon one's dietary preferences.

Recent studies have implicated unnecessarily high doses of multivitamin and herbal supplements in the genesis of dozens of different cancers.

for people with low d3, 1k iu x daily for a month and then on alternate days or 60k iu, in tablet or liquid form, once a week. which one is good method for increasing d3? and d3 and calcium and vitamin k has a relation leading to bones and blood density, any idea how these 3 are interrelated? labs usually have no idea which test measures vitamin k in body.

Thanks, I did not get notification as I think it was tagged in plain-text.

Not an expert, just trying to get better version of things for myself and parents.

Personally, I do not take Calcium supplements - still believe best to get from diet. Check if you reach RDA(NIN) - 1000mg/day from dietary sources. Always go through ICMR NIN guide if you have time: https://main.icmr.nic.in/sites/default/files/up...

Best sources - Milk(A2/buffalo(avoid if already Cardiovascular issues)), paneer(homemade), curd/chach, moringa, beans, seeds(esp. sesame) nuts, ragi, green-leafy&cruciferous veggies.

But age increases we need them for parents(mostly doctors only write but they don't care about form) or doc recommends based on tests.

B12- Milk, egg(for veg , non-veg pls check online). I take this as I know as veg person I am always deficient(got tested multiple times). But will need to supplement, get your levels tested and talk with your physician.

D3-Sunlight(~30mins exposure(rotate exposed part), take 8am-10am(ideally uvb is in 10am-3pm but need to avoid harmful effects too). Get levels tested and then take accordingly, I suggest go slow with 1k/2k IU/day. Stay around 75 nmol/L (= 30 ng/mL) level.

Excessive use of supplements can lead to toxicity, and taking calcium may result in kidney stones. It's important to seek a doctor's recommendation and avoid self-medication
