Dharmendra was already married (with wife whose sons are Bobby and Sunny and 2 more siblings) and to marry Hema he and Hema converted to Islam as his wife didn’t agree to leave him. Hema was to marry Jitendar due to family pressure and since Dharmendra couldn’t legally marry her so only thing that could have helped is to convert to Islam.

After turning Muslim they had 2 daughters, Isha and Ahana. It’s not any secret and simple google search can give you whole story.
