Hey Friends,
I am currently using HDFC’s Superia Signature Credit card and have approx 15,000 reward points in it. Using them I can get Croma GV worth rs 4000.
Today I got a call from HDFC regarding upgrade available on my card, saying that I have an option to get my card upgraded to HDFC’s REGALIA Card. Standard condition for card up-gradation is, If a customer goes for up-gradation, only 40% of current reward points will be carried forward. i.e. 9000 reward points will be lost.
But again the benefits of Regalia card are irresistable, like Reward conversion rates are much better than current card and points accumulation rate is 4 points/150 compared to current 3 points/150.
Suggest me the best way to go forward.
I was also thinking to put a request for points redemption to get Croma GV and after an hour of that to apply for card upgradation via Netbanking. Anybody please suggest me will this work?

I had upgraded my card and they forwarded the same 40% points. I lost 60% points as conversion rate is same in both the cards.
This was last year. If 40% points have more value in ragila card, then go for it..otherwise redeem them now. Don’t take risk.
Thank you guys for your suggestions. Karma for sparing your valuable time.
Meanwhile I have Applied for Points redemption and Card-upgrade both simultaneously. Will keep you all updated whether both the requests are honored or not.

Simple hdfc gave me offer from platinum to superia
How do you get HDFC Bank’s credit card. And how to save points accumulated while Up-gradation.
HDFC bank has an option wherein you can become first time customer of “Life-Time free” Card (if you are a salaried employee with salary I guess 20k plus) and get a Platinum or Platinum+ card. On using this card for an year or two and if your card spends are regular, you will be offered an upgrade. In my case when my points touched 5000 mark in Platinum Plus credit card, I was offered a Superia Card.
After using Superia card for close to two years, last month my points accumulated became 15000 plus (courtesy some large payments of Institute fee and LIC payments etc). And at the same time I checked for Card upgrade option and found that I have two options, i.e. Regalia Card and one other with Air-miles benefits. I went to HDFC Bank’s site to check for the benefits for both the cards and found Regalia to fit my needs better than other. A look at HDFC’s Rewards catalogue might help in decision making: http://www.hdfcbank.com/assets/pdf/Rewards_Cata...
To avoid 60% points lost during Card upgradation process, what I did was went for Points redemption just before applying for card upgrade. And thus got 4000k Rs worth of vouchers and a new card with Zero points balance.
Rate of Reward points accumulation and Redemption comparison:
For making a decision on which HDFC’s card one should go for, the rule is higher the better. In reward catalogue mentioned above, cards are categorized alphabetically, wherein you may check the hierarchy of the cards. The points accumulated always gets better with higher range of Card, like in case of Platinum (2 points on Rs 150 spend), Superia (3 points per Rs 150), Regalia (4 points per Rs 150) and Infinia (5 points per Rs 150).
Moreover the worth of points also keeps on increasing, as you may see in Rewards catalogue. for a Reliance voucher of Rs 1000, Reward points required are- Platinum (5035), Superia (4025), Regalia (2515), Infinia (2025).

@ebigboss , @Achilles , @dealmate , @dd2014
yes in hdfc cashback card you will get 3X point in online shopping.
tell me about Regalia card.
HDFC Moneyback credit card have reduced the points for online purchases. It’s now 2X instead of 3X for online spends.

If you are upgrading your card via an offer from HDFC Bank itself, and currently you are a member of Life-time Free card, then in that case, your new upgraded card will also be life-time free.
And in case, you haven’t got the offer and then you go for upgrade of card, then the normal annual charges on card will apply. In my case, since i got the offer from HDFC’s side, I called up customer care to confirm it by presenting this question atleast in 5 different ways, to ensure that there won’t be any Annual charges in any case (including, even If somebody don’t use upgraded card at all).

What do you wist to know about Regalia card? or do you wish to ask about Superia Card?
Moreover, HDFC has got toll free Credit Card helpline number, where calls are answered in 4-5 minutes. You may ask them any of your queries for confirmation.

Sorry for digging out old thread. I have an HDFC Allmiles mastercard lifetime free. Now i want to upgrade it to regalia. I’ve 25k points in this card from which i can get 8k SS gv. Is the rule same as earlier about 40% of reward points thing? Can someone clarify pls?
Check upgrade request offline form, all details mentioned in that.
Hi!!
I wanted to know that when and how did you get the offer/option to upgrade your credit card. How long have you been using your old card?
Don’t redeem the reward points.
I had 42000 reward points. When i converted to regalia, HDFC told me that i will get 40% of current but i got 100%
Plus on the basis of reward conversion rate, even the 40% points might be worth better than 100% superia points.
