Hello dimers, i have a Kent pride plus mineral RO water purifier approximately 18 monthe old. Till the time of one year warranty during service requests, the engineer used to come and say everything is fine and machine is working good. Also for around 3-4 months during some renovation work in my house machine was not in use. From few days i was getting calls from kent for free service since product had one year warranty and three years free service. So i placed request for service. The engineer came and within seconds he said all the membrane and filter kit needs to be changed. I said i was not using it for few months and before that the engineer who came said no need of anything, everything is fine. I asked him if there is some another alternative instead of changing the whole parts. He said membrane/fitter kits needs to be changed every year. I asked him the approximate cost of changing he wrote a remark on the form writing 4500 rs approx for mebrane and filter change . I told him I will think about it and then contact Kent. So need help regarding should i go for what he suggested rather tried to make me convince that time only or is there any better option which i can take.

I am willing to change parts as per his recommendation, my concern is, is it advisable to change membrane/ filter kit every year as he suggested after i get this one.
One more question is it advisable to go for local filters while the product service is under warranty, will kent service my product in future or warranty will be void stating that you have installed third party filter/parts?
It depends on the water hardness and the recommended change schedule measured in litres as well. Mine is Aquaguard which I remember said something like 6500ltrs or maybe even more and that's a very conservative number by manufacturers just to sell products quickly. That's 3yrs in my home since we barely need more than a full tank or 1.5 tanks every day. I check hardness level as well every 3 months. But I get everything replaced within two years.
If you only have 1 or 2 people in home, then even your water usage would be very low and can probably go without changing anything for 3 years. Also, the technicians don't give any guarantee for motor after they change the filters. If they broke those feeble things and it doesn't work, it is on you if you haven't bought the AMC that they push on you.
Have decided to go for all changes technician recommended this time which will cost approx Rs 4500 , afterwards for future services will decide based on the suggestions received by fellow dimers.
