Someone successfully stole my Mobile. Reported to the Police. Anything else I can do now other than stress out the whole night?

Not lost but stolen - while taking a rush bus, someone snatched my mobile. Funny thing is, 3 others also lost their phones in the same bus stand within 5 minutes. We all went to the police station and filed a report. Police gave nice scolding. in my mind: "Yes, Police sir, scold us more, we are not stressed enough. Maaro mujhe maaro".

They actually assured us that it would be found again once the thief turns on the mobile. But I don't know, what if they just break the mobile and take apart useful parts?

In the Find my device, I locked it again. What else to do? Can they access Gpay and Phonepe? How to disable those?

If it's Jio and in AIrtel too you can instantly block the sim online. Then you can reissue another sim with the same no. Jio charged Rs 50.  The same happened to me last year in Bangalore; luckily, I got it back. I had tweeted to DCP which forced police to file an FIR, and then did a lot of other stressful things. If your phone is costly, you can do it. Otherwise, not worth it.

They cannot access your data unless your phone is unlocked.

Login to your google account in another phone or laptop and report the phone as lost. You can also add your contact details and message to display when the phone is lost. You can also make it ring loud when it is connected to the internet

Activate the remote wipe/phone reset option via google find my device option so that next time the phone connects to any wifi/mobile data network using same google acc (this is assuming thief didn't reset the phone already) the phone will be factory reset.

Google Gemini said if I do a Factory Reset, the Police might not be able to track the phone well. So, I did not do that .. yet.

Block your debit cards/credit cards if possible. Call up the bank and authenticate and confirm the Debit Card details acc number, etc. The executive may ask you for some security questions. So, before you call, be prepared to answer those questions.

Really hope you find your device back soon, must be so stressful. Best wishes.

I wonder if you would have similarly wished good for a rapist, murderer too.
I do not even want to check the usernames of the two CONTENT HAS BEEN REMOVEDs who validated an inane comment like this.

No wonder though that our state assemblies and parliament is full of criminals.

If celebrating criminals was an Olympic sport, India would probably never loos the top spot in the medals tally ever.

I just hope that those laugh reactions are not by you @goss8877 @bikidas2060 @blueflash (and even if they are by you, my initial thoughts remain. I am not backtracking).

Don't worry nobody can access ur data unless they know the password. They can access sd card data if there is sd card in phone. Just get a new sim card with same number and keep an eye on find my device. Chances of getting your phone back are relatively low because theif first remove the sim card and reset the phone immediately

If the police scolded like so, then I presume (that) this did not happen in Kerala.
Umless i am mistaken, @jairaj you are from Kerala.

Sadly, you are right about negligible traceability of the cannibalised parts.

But unless one does IMEI spoofing prior to latching on to any GSM network or the MAC address is cracked prior to accessing the internet, one has some hope of reporting the stolen IMEI/s to all global agencies which keep a record of such things (besides of-course the one in India).

If there was any insurance and when eventually the police give a closure report (with or without bribes), then insurance companies do proceed with processing the claims.

Not from Kerala but almost every Keralite person I met, spoke to me in Malayalam assuming I am from Kerala lol.
In Bangalore. Police weren't aggressive but were scolding in kinda sarcastic way. Later they assured us that they would try to find it. Not too confident in their claims though.
Didn't make any insurance for this mobile.

I don't know. They informed us that they will track the mobile through IMEI number. They just took our details and gave us the Lost Report. Can I do it now? For this I need to get the replaced sim for the OTP ya? I haven't got the new sim yet as I don't have any mobile lol. 😞 I should check if I have any old mobile that still works.
