Looks like everything needs a subscription on TV, else there's the wrath of Ads
Since I just got a smart tv, I've subscribed to Youtube family plan.
What other apps do you suggest I can use, which work well hopefully without ads?

Me using almost everything without paying a single dime.
Try SmartTube instead of YouTube (if your tv supports android apps). It is an adfree version of YouTube (If you don't want to pay for premium)
If you have some movies/tv shows downloaded on your pc. You can use plex app to watch them on TV.
Unable to install Stremio app on my Sony Google TV. On the Stremio website, when downloading an apk it shows the app is not supported. Any alternative solutions to install Stremio?
use send files to tv to install it on tv
Put yourself in the shoes of the content creator (individual or company). If everyone wants to consume content FREE, how does the content creator and the content provider (YouTube, Netflix) earn?
Creators already do not earn much from the platform where they are uploading content like Insta or YouTube. They solely earn primarily from brand deals and sponsorships. And I'm telling you this from first-hand experience because I work in a company which manages creators. So even after paying for YT sub, you're still seeing ads because sponsors exist.
Then, I'm happy to pay for a platform but only when I'm able to see that they are really listening to user feedback and they are being customer-centric and not assholes like Netflix or most others are. For example, if I'm paying for the highest tier plan which comes with 4 or 5 or 6 screens or whatever, then I'm expecting that they will freely let me use it however I want. Since they wanted the money, I have given it to them. Now the plan came with 6 screens so I need to be able to use it however and whenever I want. If I'm sitting in Delhi or Chennai or Bangalore or wherever, these days families do not live together and they live separately. But if we have to share a plan, we have to buy it separately because Netflix wants everyone to be in the same location even after we have paid for the 6-screen plan. So, trash companies like that, no, I won't ever pay for.
