Smallcase Sharing - Grow Wealth Collectively ( For Subscribed Smallcase Users Only )
What is a small case ? https://www.smallcas...m/
A smallcase is a curated basket of stocks or ETFs that reflects a specific investment theme, strategy, or objective. It's like a ready-made portfolio designed to help you invest in a particular area of the market without having to pick individual stocks yourself.
Key features of smallcases:
- Thematic investing: Smallcases are often built around specific themes like "Clean Energy", "Rising India", or "Financial Inclusion".
- Diversification: They typically include a diversified basket of stocks, reducing risk.
- Professional curation: Smallcases are created by experts, ensuring quality and research-backed investment decisions.
Why is it benenficial to Share Smallcases and not buy each one of them ?
-
Practically not viable to buy all smallcases : There are over 100+ smallcases by various managers and all the professionally managed smallcases are chargable with either monthly / quaterly or as a % of investment value as charges. It is not possible to buy all smallcases and when you have merely 1 lac to 2 lacs to invest , buying even a single smallcase is not practical because the % of charges you are paying are way higher than a traditional MF
-
Investment Philosophy of Smallcase Manager not known until you buy a smallcase : Smallcases before investment show very little information . People rely on the past performance / number of scripts in a smallcase / and just the % of allocation among asset classes. The sectoral or stock information is only provided after paying the fees . It may happen after purchasing the investment philosophy is not which you align . E.g. A smallcase performed exceptionally in the past due to Defense & PSU allocations , however now since these sectors are not working you have paid a fees and stuck with a Smallcase which may not perform well in the future. Hence , understanding the manager and its approach is very much essential before investing in a smallcase from own account
-
Highly Concentrated Portfolios : To get higher returns many smallcases are highly concentrated . For e.g Super Multipliers one of the highest earning smallcase has just 3 scripts . While the returns can be high , high concentration can also lead to higher risks . In the meanwhile Niveshaay Small & Midcap has 26 scripts so the risks adjusted returns of that portfolio maybe higher Super Multipliers .

I have "Gulaq Gear 6" and also invest in a free one " The Naked Trader".
However the free one has more returns currently for me,lol
I have also been invested in Gulaq Gear 6 directly . While Estee Advisors is one of the reputed PMS managing over 1000 cr assets their recent performance especially after they shifted from the old strategy to new one with over 35 scripts did not work at all .
While they previously were saying with even 35 stock portfolio we can earn similar returns they heavily underperformed during Sept to Oct 2024 .
Now they have switched back to a 15 portfolio strategy and hopefully they can again be back with a bang but last 2 months with the 35 portfolio strategy they were one of the worst performing smallcases imo .
This also means that many of these Smallcases have only come up during the bull run from 2020 onwards so probably many of them have not seen bear phases and their performance is not backtracked .
I still hold high regards for Estee as they have a very simple structure of their Smallcases with Debt being the only component changing across their multiplie smallcases and the good montly communication they keep alongwith the long track record which many of the smallcase managers are missing
I personally use smallcases as a tool to identify sectors and specific scripts and then build upon a portfolio revolving around those themes / sectors .
Gulaq Gear 6 is a small part of my overall portfolio as the quant based portfolios is not my cup of tea
For real ground work based research the following Smallcase managers are doing an excellent job
1. Niveshaay - Team of over 25+ research analysts doing ground work research by visiting the companies
2. Green Portfolio - Smaller team but again they are visiting companies and doing the rights things
3. Rupeeting - Again a small team not sure of the ground work being done but they have been recently merged with a 100+ year old PMS house and this proves the talent is there . Their front men include ex DSIJ chief editor and a India focused Funds Manager of a big Japanese financial institution
4. Capitalmind - Do not know the ground work but atleast they post good blogposts
5. Teji Mandi - By Motilal Oswal . One who has been a wealth creator over the years in the small and midcap space.
6. Intelsense - A very astute investor now turned into a PMS manager . You can follow his work on investment forums
However, I feel many of the smallcases except the one listed above keep releasing smallcases one after the other based on market trends and overcomplicate things to ensure they show returns .
Also people have started momentum / quant based investing as it shows quick returns but the slippage/ rebalancing costs are not considered which I feel are high and again many of these smallcases have not really tested the bear market phases
I'm invited in quite a few smallcases. Add me to the group
Weekend investing is a fraud. He keeps introducing new smallcases when old ones are not performing well.
