NAV is usually updated late in the evening. So as long as you are selling before 3pm you get NAV that was updated on the previous evening.

1pm for liquid funds

This is for ET money transactions. It will be similar for other srvices.

What will be the applicable NAV for my withdrawal transaction?

The applicable NAVs depends on the scheme type and the time at which redemption request is placed.

  • For liquid funds, if you have made the redemption before 12:30 PM, your redemption will be processed at NAV of the same day. If redemption request is placed after 12:30 PM, your redemption will be processed at NAV of next business date.
  • For non liquid funds, if you have made the redemption before 2 PM, your redemption will be processed at NAV of the same day. If redemption request is placed after 2 PM, your redemption will be processed at NAV of next business date.

Can anyone throw light on NAV while buying mf? How to know at which Nav i am buying it? It shows 1 day old data

You can't pin to the exact value as NAV will be calculated by EOD. If the fund is index based you can predict +/- % to some extent. If its FOF you can again do that. Other than that rely on general market indices like nifty/sensex to get an idea. Invest before 2PM on the safer side to get the same day NAV. For e.g if one wants to invest in an ELSS early on in FY25, today might be a good day as the market falls for the 2nd consecutive day. Although you can never be sure.

E.G. this has fallen by 0.32%

This will also fall or rise by the exact same % that's there at EOD

you will loose more if you redeem as you will have to give capital gains.(ltcg & sctg). don't try to time the market ,stay invested.

You need to sell before 02 pm my preference (03:00 pm is mentioned everywhere but once I sold at 2:58 or 2:59 but I go the next day NAV.)

So I prefer an hour before.

Decide by 1 PM and sell by 2 PM that the market looks suitable to you.

Your timing was perfect 3 days continuaous fall after it.
