Hello,

I am 25 years old and planning to start a monthly SIP of ₹7500. I have chosen the following allocation and would appreciate your suggestions on whether this is a good strategy or if any changes are needed:

Equity Funds (80% = ₹6000):

  • Flexi Cap Fund: ₹2500
  • Small Cap Fund: ₹1500
  • Contra Fund: ₹1000
  • Nifty 50: ₹1000

Liquid Funds (20% = ₹1500):

  • Liquid Funds: ₹1500

Looking forward to your valuable feedback and suggestions!

Thank you!

Do all investments in Joint account - in the name of your mother (first name) and yours (second name), whether it is mutual fund portfolios, demat accounts, bonds, fd, sgb or even savings account.

Pre-requisites - Provided you have cordial relations with your mother.

I believe that there may be an overlap between large-cap funds and the nifty 50 + flexi cap.

  • Flexi Cap Fund: ₹2500
  • Reason: This fund offers broad market exposure across large, mid, and small caps, providing a balanced risk-return profile. It serves as a core holding in my portfolio, ensuring a diversified base.
  • Weightage: Higher allocation due to its ability to adapt to market conditions by investing across different market capitalizations, making it a versatile and stable option.
  • Small Cap Fund: ₹1500
  • Reason: Small-cap funds can deliver high returns over the long term, albeit with higher risk. This fund focuses on smaller companies with growth potential.
  • Weightage: Moderate allocation to benefit from the high growth potential of small-cap stocks while managing the overall portfolio risk.
  • Contra Fund: ₹1000
  • Reason: This fund follows a contrarian investment strategy, investing in undervalued stocks that are expected to perform well in the future. It adds a unique dimension to the portfolio.
  • Weightage: Smaller allocation due to its contrarian approach, which can provide good returns if the market recognizes the value in these stocks, but it also carries more uncertainty.
  • Nifty 50: ₹1000
  • Reason: Index funds offer low-cost exposure to the entire market, tracking the performance of the top 50 companies in the Nifty index. It adds stability and reduces overall portfolio volatility.
  • Weightage: Reasonable allocation to ensure stability and broad market exposure with low management fees.
  • Liquid Funds: ₹1500
  • Liquid funds provide easy access to your money in case of emergencies or short-term financial needs. They typically allow quick redemption with minimal impact on the value. Liquid funds invest in short-term debt instruments, which are less volatile compared to equity funds. This can help stabilize your portfolio during market downturns.

Looks fine.

If you already have an emergency fund, I don't see the need for sip in liquid funds. It would be better if invested in other debt funds/index or flexi.

I don't know how effective the sip on contra would be considering the amount. But it doesn't hurt in this case. So Go ahead!

looks good.

if u have choosen liquid fund as debt component of ur investment. I suggest u choose short duration debt funds or other category ones .

liquid funds are ideal to just park money or as an emergency fund.
