Scam call claiming they are from SBI

I submitted a request to increase the limit on SBI BPCL Card 2 days ago.

I just received a suspicious call claiming he is from the SBI Authentication Department. He is talking in broken Telugu, and could not speak in English. He asked me the expiration date on my card. I refused to give it, then he started saying that he received a request to complete the authentication for a limit increase and he needed to verify the details.

Then he tried to assure me that, he IS from SBI and I didn't have to share my details like CVV., and he said he would WhatsApp me his ID card.,also started saying the first 6 digits of my card... I got suspicious and gave him the wrong date. He said it is matching. (how?)... and then asked me to confirm the full card number. (.. I mean seriously..?)

I disconnected the call... meanwhile received pictures of his SBI ID card on my WhatsApp number from a number whose profile pic is the SBI logo.... which SBI employee keeps the SBI logo as a profile pic?

Then I received a video call from that Whatsapp number. I covered my camera and answered the call. He did not turn he is camera ON, and asked me to show the credit card from the back camera.

Never heard of any such Authentication practice ever in my life.!!

my questions are

How did the semesters get to know that I have applied for the limit increase?

How did he know the first 6 digits of my credit card?

How does he know how much limit was approved on my account?

This sound similar like movie Siren, where the person kills culprits by producing high frequency sound like scratching metal on ground.

How did you submit your request to SBI for credit limit enhancement? Telephonically or on the website? Was it genuine?

Although now SBI is hiring/oursourcing employees on contract basis on lesser salary for bulk public dealing jobs. It is possible that some of them share the available data for scamming

LMAO, SBI Authentication Department? 🤣 There is nothing like that in the world. Compared to that, "SBI Lunch Break Department" sounds more realistic.  stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes

Bro, the authentication process doesn't work like that, especially in PSU banks like SBI where they ask you to visit the branch to raise even a formal complaint. Coming to your questions, that information is leaked by some SBI employees. IDs are probably forged, or a spammer may be using actual stolen IDs. 🤔

contacted the branch as claimed in that image.
They are unaware of any such current employee. Explained them why I am asking. They said maybe the said person is transferred before we came or was a contract hire only.

Have sent the below message along with the snapshot of your thread to the two 'emergency numbers' visible.

Someone is illegally sharing your brother or relative's old identity card on the internet. If you want, you can file a police complaint.

Technically right now YOU are committing a cybercrime by circulating the alleged sensitive information (internal ID card) of an unknown person.
Also sent the same to Cuberabad police and Andhra state CID e-mail addresses.

You should not have posted someone's alleged ID card and the details in it, on the open internet. Now you simply helped more fraudsters get that image for future use.

I received call from SBI scammer, it was easy for me to understand that its a scammer as I hold no SBI credit card 😄

He started with "XXXX ji App SBI credit card use karte ho na" and I quickly said "Nahi, woh card mene mota bhai ko diya hai woh use karte hai", He was like "kon?" I said "Mota bhai". He said "Sir nahi samjha". I said "Amit Shah, jante ho?". He disconnected. 😄

This happened to me with HDFC Bank. They informed me that I was eligible for a lifetime free MoneyBack+ credit card and instructed me to fill out a form online on their website. For the bank employee details section, the person advised me to enter his employee code. I received the credit card and also an email from the official HDFC email ID. Since I was initially skeptical, he sent me a photo of his ID card. Later, I called the official phone number listed on the net banking site, and they confirmed that it was a genuine application process. However, I'm still worried as this happened a few months ago.Is it possible that I’ve been scammed? Additionally, I want to verify if any loans have been taken using my PAN card. Is there an official site where I can check and verify if anything suspicious is linked to my PAN and Aadhaar?
