SBI - STOP on account due to KYC overdue

Never received any communication for reKYC or updation... just got a message : "Dear customer, STOP has been placed on your acc xxxxxx for the reason KYC updation overdue. - SBI" from AD-CBSSBI

Is there a way to update online via app/netbanking or need to visit branch?

Does it mean a debit freeze?

Also, no KYC details have changed... is there a way to confirm "no KYC change" and submit?

This is SBI only problem. Due to this, I closed my SBI account and request all to close their respective SBI accounts as well.

Due to this recurring KYC thing, many in rural India are getting duped by scammers.

This is the Same message I have also received from SBI. My account has been stopped & not able to do transactions.

Though there are so called options to update KYC within ATM machine, YONO, NetBanking but none of the method works for KYC updation.😏 afterall it's SBI😂

What did you do finally? When did it happen?

Yes it's debit freeze , check, there will be lien amount in your account also. Visit branch and update kyc. Wait for 7 days. If they don't make your account operational in 7 days , raise compliant against them . Even threat them of RBI Bamboo.

All options to update kyc via online or atm are fake . Dumbest bank of all . Only way to update kyc is physical visit.

Question is why didn't they give intimation and threshold date?

Even Axis did the same to me around 5 months back;

on one fine day transferred 4-5 lacs for some urgent payment and payment fails but no error msg, called care and found that KYC due - physical visit mandatory

Argued with manager but he says its RBI guidelines

Its is mess everywhere with low quality education, frequent job change, ambiguous RBI guidelines which every bank interprets in their own way

There was news that for rekyc no need to visit branch what happened to that

I recently went through it.

Visit branch, do kyc. Once done, separately ask them to remove stop. Check if you can transfer amount, then come home. Kyc and stop removal are different processes. No need to write application. Only need to fill kyc form

Won't be able to do online.

🥰🥰🥰SBI🥰🥰🥰

Go to bank. I doubt they will honour any request by email or post. The online options are scam of sbi.

Ask for KYC form. Kindly take passport photo along with you. Aadhar and pan xerox. and a PEN . For stop removal visit the manager.

If possible please report this to pgportal, consumer portal, and rbi for NO INTIMATION FOR KYC. (As per your post.

Complain so that next time they will hesitate to do such silly things repeatedly

SBI stopped account of 80 years old in our home without single day time. No help from any SBI website.

Tried updating KYC from Yono - Success but STOP could not be removed. Had to physically visit home branch for this Updation with Senior citizen.

Seems most Footfall these days is only gor KYC Updation rather other services. This may be idea of higher SBI authorities to increase footfall in Banks. Be watchfull of SBI. They may use new tricks to increase current customer footfall in Branches with new charges. 😕

Afterall SBI need to Finance a Big private enterprise.  😜
