You got to approach your branch only as they have one person who handles net-banking. He will do it for you right away. I faced difficulties twice and that person helped me quickly.

Actually my younger bro has opened an account and also applied for internet banking.
So he received an sms(after applying for internet banking) from SBI saying that “you have requested for internet banking and your username is XXXXXXX.
Now the interesting part is that the username he received on SMS was different from the username written on kit.
So he tried to login with both usernames (SMS one and printed one) but was unable to proceed. And yes he used same password which was written on kit. He went to bank but SBI people knew nothing about it (as usual).
He consulted with branch manager also(he is a smart kid https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif). But result remained same and he was unable to register for internet banking. So he gave up.
Now before 3-4 days a letter came to us via speed post. It was from SBI and guess what, it had password inside it.
So now he tried to login (User ID: via SMS and PSWD: via Speed Post) and voila. Everything went fine after that and now he is using internet banking without and problem.
So I will suggest you to wait for the sms from SBI. And don’t be dependent over SBI staff. They don’t know anything.

kit problem happens, its not new. neither toll free nor bank’s unknowledged staff can help. instead of going into loops just go to your branch and meet the manager and tell him about problem in activating your netbanking due to error in kit number. he’ll either tell you about techie assigned for branch to meet or call (generally stay in main branch of city) or issue a new kit number.

rest of the guys guessing, a kit number is assigned to passeord given at time of netbanking activation and is give in person to account holder in branch and number is noted in tegister of bank. that password is activated on sbi software by feeding kit number. other banks send password at home while sbi gives in branch and since they issue many passwords everyday for a city they issue envelope number each for every envelope known as kit.

Oh, my! Is it that messy? I activated netbanking just 3 months back and it was as smooth as that. Will ask my friends and let you know if I get any suggestion in this regard. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

KIT No 11digit alphabetic followed by 10numbers ex : P1231234561

user id is only in NUMBERS

these may be problems for this

1) kit not activated / not attached to ur account

2) may be problem in ur kit

go and ask ur branch manager to replace kit

i’m working in State Bank Group
1.Yes, kit no. contains alphanumeric(e.g L021416555)
2.Most of the time Kit gets activated within 36-48 hours
even if the problem persists the main reason is that PP kit is not linked to your A/c
