I believe everyone is victim of balance deduction by SBI Card for used reward points.I am too.



I was too skeleptical about redeeming reward points(holding SimplyClick)
However I planned to go ahead for redemption but before that I asked nodal team about my available reward points and asked them to deduct all reward points which I am not supposed to receive.
They confirmed the same available reward points which were viisble to me as well(without deducting reward points received while availaling discount offer)

I redeemed reward points and within 10 days they deducted amount Rs 200 around from card account.
I raised it on PG Portal on 1st Jan with their mail confirmation(for available reward points).
It took 30 days around for them to respond that they will be reversing the deducted amount but in between they again deducted the amount around Rs 300 on 12th Jan.
I was expecting that they will cover both the amounts but they are not

Now I am requesting my fellow dimers whoever have faced this issue lets raise it with RBI amd PG portal whatever suitable.
You can put forward the issue- malpractice by SBI Card. SBI card must revert reward points which are not supposed to be credited within same billing cycle. But SBI card has deducted amount from card balance immediately after you use reward points.

Let force SBI Card to change this practice

Post the complaint you made to sbicard like a template here. If people who want to complain now or in the future can just copy and paste with modifications.

The main reason people don't complain is the daunting task of structuring their complaint. If that's available they be more inclined to make a complaint as soon as possible.

have raised multiple places, they simply reply by copy pasting their T&C their customer head representative told me cleary & shamelessly that we have no solution neither anything in pipeline close sbi card & have peace of mind

Let's try one more time with RBI. A lot of complaints on RBI portal might force RBI to take action on SBI card but will not work with one or two complaints

The policy came in September 2022. They emptied my reward points earned before, thereafter and that's not enough charging my card too. They are deducting multiple times to what they credited so this anomaly, but they are acting as if they are unable to understand what I am explaining in each and every correspondence I did with them so far including their twitter team.

They agreed for me to revert one of the deduction If we raise with RBI together. Lot of complaints for one single policy will force RBI to take action. Goal here is not to change the policy but to change the implementation and refund the amount which has been deducted due to malpractice of SBI Card

Whenever one opens sbi card app, they first takes acceptance of customer and then proceed further.

There they have intentionally marked that they can deduct balance against excess points credited.

However it is true that they should not have credit reward point for such transactions. But now this is in their regular practice to credit reward points first and deduct balance later.

Absolutely. If I was an RBI ombudsman, I would fine them crores in fines. 🤣 But I am just an ordinary customer. Enough is enough. I also waited for around 6 months and points were very stable. As soon as I redeemed, they deducted 350 from the 500 gift voucher I had redeemed. Profit of just ₹150. Thankfully I had looted them with instant discounts a lot this year (phone, microwave oven, grocery) and got ₹500 Zomato voucher also for add-on card and soon 3 months Swiggy One.

I have trashed them on Twitter angrily many times for this malpractice. I wish everyone would tag relevant people and rant on Twitter.

Sadly, raising this issue with RBI ombudsman is unlikely to have any impact because like any treacherous cunning crafty cheating company, they put his clause in Terms and Conditions. So RBI ombudsman simply says in not so simple words but basically they mean "Case closed as this is an incident of you (the customer) not agreeing with T&Cs. Can't do anything about it." Doesn't mean we shouldn't try. I will try filing RBI ombudsman complaint but only after my other more serious complaints with SBI Cards are resolved. 😅

I have had the SBI IRCTC card for 7 years and have been recently close to cancelling it / replacing with SBI SimplyCLICK due to various issues. Now I think I'll stick to it 😅

SBI IRCTC card is the worst sbi card to get nowadays if you are not using its points in irctc wallet for booking tickets because unlike other sbi cards the irctc points credited in irctc wallet linked to card cannot be reversed by sbi card so instead they always put a debit txn of equivalent value at the rate of 1 point=Rs.1 in your statement for the points credited in your irctc wallet for txns done during 10% sbi card offer sale.

If you really want that more and more people should write to RBI, Pls write a step by step tutorial for same:
Draft a full length email that should be written to RBI highlighting SBI's mistake etc. 
So that masses may copy paste and raise separate tickets, only then SBI will realise it's mistake.

Sbi card earned profit of 549 crore for December quarter I really hate this credit and deduction policy i am victim of this illegal activities more then 3-4 times if this incident happens in usanppl might have made them bankrupt but yeh to india hai sab ko adat hai nai hai unko ho jayegi

Absolutely, moreover at some cases I have noticed, the redemption is taken at .20p and balance is deducted equivalent to .25p. moreover simply click is fee based card, they have reduced all benefits but fee is intact. These are my few observations, I also had 8k around points wanted to redeem them, but after 5-10days it became 6k around points and after 2-3 days, it reduced to 800 points around. It's just i didn't redeemed it this time otherwise my balance would have also be forfeited.

I raised issue to cc and asked them to close the card since benefits are reduced, got a call, and while I was talking, cc said sir some 700rs around was charged to you in September, we can reverse it. I was shocked, these were finance charges either of redemption or of late payment which i don't remember so I said ok reverse it and couldn't talk further that time waited some days got 777rs back.

Also people who have went through escalations all the way to the principal nodal officer of the company and waited 30 days without no resolution, can only go to rbi ombudsman.

Is this issue limuted to simply click only or any other card is also impacted. Especially sbi cashback. I dint checked my statement in detail and simply paid the outstanding amount whatever is asked.

SBI Card has implememented following Policy maliciously.

SBI Policy: Reward points accrued on offer eligible transactions will be forfeited.

Reward points will be forfeited for all transactions done during offer period and considered for Offer

computation. At the time of forfeiture in case the Cardholder has inadequate Reward Point balance, then

an amount equivalent to Reward Points to be Forfeited will be debited from the Cardholder’s account.

SBI Card credits reward points for inelligible transactions and forfeit these reward points after 5-6 months(no specific time period).

By this time Mostly I would have used reward points and SBI Card starts levying charges(rp forfeit for cbk offer).

This is actually a malpractice being followed by SBI Card to generate more revenue. It is causing lot of trouble for me as

I cannot keep track of reward points credited for inelligible transactions and SBI Card never gives details about reward points

which will be forfeited letter.

8. (a) Whether any reply (Within a period of one month after the

bank concerned received the representation) has been received?

(c) Whether the complainant has received any other final decision of

the bank?

Direct SBI Card to change implementation of policy as below and refund the charges levied(Reward Points will be forfeited for all transactions done during offer period and considered for Offer computation).

SBI Card should not Credit reward points for inelligible transations.

If by any mean, Reward points for inelligible transations got credited to customer account,

SBI Card should forfeit reward points within same billing cycle.

If SBI Card is unable to forfeit the reward points for inelligible trasanctions within same billing cycle,

SBI Card must not forfeit the reward points later.

10. NATURE AND EXTENT OF MONETARY LOSS, IF ANY, CLAIMED BY THE COMPLAINANT BY WAY OF COMPENSATION Rs.………… (put your amount)

We know that SBI reverse reward points for discounts offered on sale on Amazon / Flipkart. But do they reverse for offline SBI card discounts on phone stores as well?
