Here are the highlights from Sitharaman’s press conference:
-Asset monetisation will unlock resources, lead to value unlocking, says Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on asset monetisation plan.
-Land will not be monetised under National Monetisation Plan only brownfield assets to be monetised, says Finance Minister.
-It is important that India recognizes that the time has come for making the most out of our assets, says the Finance Minister.
-Budget identified infrastructure as the key focus for public expenditure, says Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
-Nirmala Sitharaman says ownership of the assets will remain with the government, there will be a mandatory hand back of the asset after the due time. Government is not selling its assets for good.

Govt doesnt have the balls to call this what it is so they have named it asset monetization plan (makes you think it is something good), they basically want to earn more money from infra ie. roads and railways by leasing it to private players. Who will bear the burnt? General Public.

There is no hypocrisy. Aapko galat lag raha hai. Modi ji ne “kasam mujhe is mitti ki, main desh nahi bikne dunga” bola tha. Unhone ye kabhi nahi kaha tha ki khud nahi bechenge. Unhone kaha tha bikne nahi denge.
Isi tarah, unhone kaha tha achhe din aane waale hain.. unhone ye kabhi nahi specify kara tha ki kiske liye aane waale hain.. aap ko laga wo aapki fikr kar rahe the, wo aapki galati. Unhone saaf bola tha, laal kile se, gujarati khoon ke baare mein.. ki gujarati sochte hain “isme mera kya.. nahi to mujhe kya..” .. ab aap tab bhi nahi samajh sake … unki galati nahi hai. Modi ji Ram ka avatar nahi swayam Ram hain.. aisa main nahi, whatsapp kehta hai. To sach hi hoga… “arrr isliyeeeee”… Modi ji ko hypocrite kehna uchit nahi hoga.
How did the 6 lakh crore value come up, how were the assets valued since nothing has been done like this before.
Also I didn’t understand one thing ,for eg if you value a certain highway of some value and you expect a certain revenue ,why will someone pay you more than that?
on a satirical note, if no work was done in last 70 yrs then how did so much assets came into being.
Bas yehi to mat poochho… 38% fell for “sattar saal mein kuchh nahi hua” and they know it, but situation is that today their egos will never let them ask what you are asking, because they will have to admit they fell for nonsense, and royally at that. It can be humbling, and not many have the courage it takes to admit and course-correct.
So you guys can’t afford to pay your water or electricity bills.
Don’t you think only population in BPL should be given this and govt should use this money for better purpose rather than doing charity ( although we know its not, people money in one way or another).
Can we consider roads as equivalent to water, in terms of basic needs ?
I mean if roads are constructed in front of your house using tax payer’s money than it’s good but if a basic quantity of water and electricity is given using tax payer’s money than it creates havoc !
