Charging you for genuine parts while fitting local ones offers a large profit margin and is commonly practiced in our country with no shame or guilt. It all depends on who the franchise owner is and their ethics.

Phone manufacturers, in an effort to increase their market presence in a large country like India, sell franchises to anyone who can immediately invest in setting up these centers. Like in the USA, companies should start checking the backgrounds of their franchise owners, including their ethics and vision.

Some of the franchises around my locality are owned by individuals with no ethics or social standing; those who are aware of this tend to stay away from these places. Assess the general atmosphere in these locations and trust your instincts.
