In 2019, RIL chairperson Mr. Mukesh D. Ambani had mentioned that the tentative timelines for taking Reliance Retail, Reliance Jio public.. would be about five years.
Now that Reuters has fuelled renewed interest https://reuters.com/world/india/ambanis-reliance-jio-ipo-set-2025-retail-debut-much-later-sources-say-2024-11-04 on the same
I have been wondering (as to)
how such developments are likely to shape things up for others.
How would it go for those smaller companies (who are) similarly looking forward to getting big ticket investments from the Arabs (UAE, Saudi), KKR and others.. just like Reliance did.
Given that India's weakness (population size) is its strength,
would successful IPOs of companies valued at $100 billion plus,
make it any easier for smaller companies too
.. to get seed investments, series-A, series-B funding?
Although the Reuters story only cited unnamed sources and neither Reliance Rerail nor the telecom venture 'Reliance Jio' have responded to the story yet
the public offer of Reliance Jio is likely to conclude in F.Y. 2025-2026
while that of Reliance Retail too would follow soon.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
The wayINR is plummeting USD is rising (quoting our honourable minister SuShri Nirmala Sitharaman), if the company is valued in hundreds of billions, then hopefully the retail component of the public offer too would have enough shares to be alloted.
Somehow, I personally am more hopeful of Reliance Retail faring better than Reliance Jio, in the next 30-40 years.
But these are early days.
Who knows if in the future, R-Jio too would get inspired with Bharti Airtel... in expanding to multiple continents.
It is just that, the franchise of MANY foreign labels.. are eventually falling in the lap of Reliance Retail.
The other day, at a local GAP store, upon requesting, the staff check the place of manufacturing, for me.
Reliance seems to be manufacturing the garments locally in Maharashtra itself, as GAP couldn't care less about us.. so long as their franchisee pays them the licence fees, royalties.
Not to forget that GAP too is convinced that Reliance has good vertical integration.. at-least in case of human made, synthetic yarn and onward products.
One pure cotton tee-shirt that I did felt like using/buying.. was unfortunately priced at around INR 4000 (and no specific discount as mall rentals are 8-9 lakhs every month)
which my brain refused to accept as the brand premium.
It was practically the most basic turtleneck thing, which Dmart could sell for 300-400 rupees.
Similar stuff from other Reliance, Raymond's, Century Textiles brands would not even be INR 2000 rupees.
In-fact the Louis Philippe, Color Plus (daily use) tee-shirts that I often wear are all polos and with a breast-pocket.
And I am not a body-builder, nor have huge triceps, biceps.. so I despise tee-shirts with a band/grip on the sleeve.
Thus most of our purchases, be it for me, my father, my uncle.. is for larger sized cotton tee-shirts with no band/grip on the sleeve and a breast-pocket (which is phased out in almost all teeshirts, brands).
Still we get them in 1500-2000-2200 range.
But still if Reliance Retail has so many premium brands under its belt, then it seems like aspirational India will prevail.
Although it would take much longer for the books of Reliance Retail to look more enticing in the red herring prospectus.
Even with their mobility business, Jio is AGGRESSIVELY pursuing to convert the non paying customers to pay for active plans or risk termination of the contract (loosing the number).
even @ithehappy moshai and I myselves have received those work-from-home tele-caller's calls😄.. especially regarding numbers whose active service validity lapsed more than 90-100 days back.
