I tried to book a Tatkal ticket today. On the last payment step I chose "IRCTC wallet" then it asked if I wanted to confirm payment by pressing the "Confirm" button. As soon as I clicked this button it logged me out.I tried to login afterwards many times but it was not allowing me to login, instead it kept redirecting me to the "Sorry!!! Please Try again!!" page.
Due to the urgency of booking Tatkal ticket, I asked my brother to book the ticket for me, and he successfully booked the ticket.
Then I tried to login to my account again, and it showed that my ticket was booked as well. So now I have 2 Tatkal tickets for the same passengers.
I have contacted IRCTC through their helpdesk and email. Both responded that refund of confirmed Tatkal ticket is not possible.
Shall I atleast cancel one of the Tatkal ticket for now? What options do I have now?
Thanks for reading.

Oh okay, then will it lead to and cancellation from their end?
Even if you cancel the ticket you will get 0 refund. So Instead of that try to sell this ticket to someone needy .
Otherwise forget it.
It’s difficult to find someone for this, otherwise i would have offered it for a good discounted price.
Do you really think Indian railways / IRCTC have this much time to play cosumer consumer ?
We are in India !!!!!!!
Aaapney samaan / paisey ki rakshaa swayaam karen .
Life lesson / irctc lesson ... you have to be ultra sharp .. all eyes / ears open while booking tatkal .
You should always check booking history before initiating new booking. Best course of action find someone who is in need of ticket and traveling tommorow. You can find it on train or platform.
cancel means no refund .. as simple as it is .. keep both PNRS active till end ... write application etc .. get it signed by TTE while travelling .. maybe it will help while taking refund ,
There's no refund of the confirmed tatkal ticket. So if you go by any legal way of writing letters or having a discussion with SM, TTE, etc then just forget your one ticket and travel on one ticket like a good law abiding citizen of India.
Else the only option is to find someone with a waiting ticket and help him with a confirmed seat in lieu of some money. Keeping in mind you don't let the tte get to know about this.
And another option is if by chance your train is late by 3+ hours then file TDR of the second ticket with the reason passengers not travelled.
Honestly I don't know what to do. But playing any trick can backfire specially when you are travelling with family.
Don't cancel ticket. Cancellation will mean zero refund whatever you do.
If you contact TTE, he will definitely sell seats himself. And no refund to you.
One person who can help (by telling him to deduct like 1k for his risk from fare) is Coach attendant. He can take the blame in case it backfires. He can sell the seat (they are pretty good at it). He also knows about TTEs (same or different for your PNRs).
But don't pay him from pocket. Tell him to collect from seat buyer and keep his cut.
Ek par sona dusre par bag rakhna.. last option yahi hai.. agar koi mile usko sell kar dena train me..

game.ruler Next time, check the email ID linked to your IRCTC account! 😄
Well we faced this issue when 2 people dropped out of plan so we just gave out seat to people who didn't have confirmed ticket by getting 1000 for ticket for each seat😄

I will see about selling the tickets but chances seem low to find someone at the station with similar age group (male and female) and then their willingness to travel on our names.
You don't need to find same age group just find if someone has waitlisted ticket and offer them your seat for 1000 or 1500 depending on normal price of ticket. And don't try it with TT they will sell the seats themself to other people.
