He Paid via UPI in Srilanka.
Note - UPI accept almost everywhere on Lanka QR codes.
He share this pic - While global credit & debit cards were not getting accepted, an Indian product (UPI) was getting accepted in Srilanka !!
UPI is accepted via Lanka QR code in Sri Lanka
Lanka QR code is comman and can be found at many places in Srilanka
You just need to scan Lanka QR via any UPI App (Currently, GPay, Phonepe, Paytm, Bhim app is live on UPI International)
Note - you need to activate your UPI International transaction from your UPI app setting.
On scanning, You will be asked to enable International UPI
As a second step, It will show the conversion rate and the amount in Indian Rupees
Conversion rate is better than market rate.
You need to follow the regular process of entering your PIN
Once you enter your PIN, your transaction will go through
Congratulations you have paid for Sri Lanka currency via UPI
He also confirmed only Rs180.16 debited from his bank account, no extra charges. Conversion fee already included.
If we compare with google rate then this is the best conversion rate.
Remember - Some banks dnt charge you conversion fee.
1 week ago, He shared the information of these 2 payments through UPI in Nepal.
Note - currently Phonepe app working on UPI International payment in Nepal. Other apps showing some errors.
Conversation rate is 1 NPR = INR 0.625
He told me, ₹500 Debit from Indian bank account and NPR 800 Credit,
₹625 debit from Indian bank account and NPR 1000 Credit in Nepal's merchant account.
Currently, no MDR charges for Nepal merchants.

What is way to traveling to Sri Lanka.
The flights are very expensive.
Flight from Delhi to Kerala cost 6-7K only. But Delhi to Sri Lanka Cost 25K. Surprisingly despite at very low distance, flight from Kerala to Sri Lanka cost 17-18K.
Can someone suggest cheaper alternate to travel to Sri Lanka?
Chennai to Colombo by Flight is around 5K

like going by ship to andamans . will take time to travel and you should enjoy the process.

Is it really a big deal??? Globally all banks and payment Industry are reforming as technology now enables to do design complex IT and bring Solutions to the people at large . People mostly Laymans highlight "the outward looking"Its a progressive Technology , banking networks , Internet providers, security Networks, Mobile Manufacturer's, IT`s like in 90`s when mobile networks came and People got there first hands on experience on wireless calling .
Currently, for transactions between India and Sri Lanka, both the countries will have to open bank accounts in America. Indian banks deposit funds in US banks, which then transfer the funds to the US bank account of the Sri Lankan bank. The Sri Lankan bank then makes the payment to the local merchant.
And all these payments are made in US dollars, which reduces the foreign reserves of both the countries.
And its purpose is to keep both countries under the control of the United States, so that it can impose sanctions whenever it wants.
But now both countries can trade in their local currencies through local banks, saving foreign reserves as well.
Now, what's the benefit to us ?
Would you like to eat ? Do you want to stay alive ? So, its really a big deal for us.
Because from farming to getting all food items to our homes, we need fuel.
And we pay for fuel with our foreign reserves, and also purchase defense weapons.
The rest of this has a major impact on many aspects in the long run. To go deeper into this, an essay would need to be written.
