tuya devices are more cheap n better quality
Wipro Smart Plug is good in quality
I chose the Wipro brand because it was popular, but I’ve encountered issues with three of the five smart plugs I purchased over time since 2020. Although Wipro has a dedicated app, it connects to the Tuya server behind the scenes.
One plug won’t power on at all, and two keep restarting in a loop after a power failure. As a result, only two of the five Wipro smart plugs I own are currently functional.
After reading the reviews and checking on YouTube for repair tips, it seems that most of these smart plugs stop working after about a year of use. You can't open them without breaking the outer plastic. Given that these devices can fail at any time, it might be best to opt for cheaper options. Many of these plugs appear to come from the same factory, getting relabeled by importers while still connecting to the same Tuya server.
Wipro smart plugs have features like live power consumption and log tracking, and their measurements are quite accurate. The timer and timed power on/off functions also work correctly while the device is operational.
However, since three out of my five Wipro smart plugs stopped working after the warranty period, I consider them unreliable instruments.
I used to buy a lot of Wipro devices, trusting the brand name and the founders' goodwill, including LED bulbs, LED battens, and emergency lamps. Out of the ten emergency lights I purchased, only four from the Coral and Emerald series are currently functional. However, after noticing similar-looking products appearing in the market under other brands, I realized that Wipro was simply rebranding cheap white-label products. As a result, I stopped purchasing them nearly two years ago.
Buy one with usage / consumption tracking. You can use it to track which device consumes how much power in the house if you plug it into this smart plug..
Usually all 16A smart plugs come with energy consumption monitoring/tracking but few 10A smart plugs come with this functionality. Also, always aim to get a smart plug that works with Smartlife app which is meant for Tuya devices because Smartlife app is the original app which is then copied/modified by Indian brands for their own smart devices which are basically generic Chinese tuya devices so it saves the hassle of using multiple apps from different brands in future.
Use it for water motor, no hassle of remembering it.
I've been using Philips/Wiz Smart Plugs for nearly 2 years now and they are fantastic. They work perfectly, no abrupt power on issues after a power outage, automation works perfectly (sometimes even when the Wifi is disconnected), mobile app is pretty good too.
These smart plugs are a blessing, especially like turning on the water geyser in the morning during winters, or the ac/blower for like 10 minutes at 3:00 AM, etc.
pretty much all smart plug except the xiaomi/realme ones, are made by chinese company called tuya and can be linked in their app
Correct,
I use the Wipro Smart Plug and the Wipro app to configure the device, but the smart plug connects directly to the Tuya server.
