I was unheard about the movie, but when a friend took me to the theater, I am currently unable to erase those beautiful memories from Manjummel Boys.
If you have watched, then share your responses.
If you haven't, then rush to the theater ASAP.

Great movie, everyone wasĀ clapping at the end,
Don't miss it in theatre, you won't get the sameĀ feel on TVĀ ..
It's on my watch list. I hope it won't be a disappointment. I watched my very first Malayalam movie yesterday.Ā
I guarantee you that it will be an amazing experience. (Watch it in Malayalam with Esub.)
I am fan of Malyalam moviesĀ
Premam, Hridayam, Christy and one in which Sai Pallavi was there in mental asylum and many moreĀ
Whether hindi dubbed abailable for this oneĀ
It is a trendsetter in the sense that it is made on an ultrathin budget with second
line of actors and most of the expenses going towards technical aspects.
The movie breaks the language barriers . The creative mind of the director is brilliant
where he connects small small incidents in the past to the story line.
I liked the way God was seen and presented as a light from the sky ,
The story is saving one from a cave and the cave is shown as a womb with
references to rebirth and the rope as umbilical cord
Nowadays, it is all about marketing.
This is badly marketed.
No dubbed versions released in other cities.
Or else, this would have been a sensation.
Not marketing, but just positive talks from the audiences. Even the movie is not dubbed in Tamil or Telugu due to the low budget.
Manjummel Boys got a severe drubbing from some activists recently.
Writer Jeyamohan, known for his books Aram, Venmurasu, Rubber, and Vishnupuram, wrote a long essay criticizing the Malayalam film Manjummel Boys andĀ the film celebrates the rowdyism, alcoholism, and philistine nature of Kerala and its youngsters.Ā He called Malayalees 'A frenzy of alcoholic rowdiesā.
He said that the gang in Manjummel Boys reflects the mentality that prevails across Malayali loafers who tour South Tamil Nadu. He criticized the rampant alcoholism in the state and the lack of societal responsibility among the people.
He wrote, āThese guys travel even deep into the forest. Drink. Drink. Drink. Thatās it. Puke. Create ruckus. Pass out on the roads. Cross limits. They have no interest in anything else. They lack common sense and basic public etiquette. As shown in the films, these people break and throw away the bottles.ā
Yes, I am aware of it. But somewhere, I think that Jeyamohan's review doesn't matter to all audiences except Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan, Gautham Menon, and Sudha Kongara (former AD to MR) fans.
Discussion on Jeyamohan
- Receiving crude comments from Jeyamohan is not new. Before 2010, he had controversy over MGR and Sivaji Ganesan.
- In 2014, he also appeared in controversy related to female gender (this is deep as here his review comes with 2 outcomes, or simply Myskkin fans will agree with this š).
- Then there was the food issue with Jeyamohan, yeah, the batter issue, and a statement about DMK-BJP interference in between.
Instead of commenting and passing reviews on movies, somewhere I think that Jeyamohan should focus (he is great and I am not even at his level still) a little bit on his writing for upcoming projects (I feel this because I watched PS-1 and PS-2) and guessing which scene or dialogue is written by Jeyamohan in Sarkar, 2.0, VTK, PS-1, PS-2 was easy as these were in between lagged in co-writing, and that's the reason why CHEKKA CHIVANTHAM VAANAM is one of my favorites (many said it's not a typical Mani Ratnam movie but I can say it feels like Lokesh Kanagaraj direction) (co-wrote by Siva Ananth).
Discussion on Manjummal Boys
There are a lot of movies by Vijay, Ajith, Rajini, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Navin Pauly, and Tovino Thomas (How can I forget VIKRAM by Loki and Rathna?) where they promote continuous tobacco and alcohol use. These are the people where Subaskaran Allirajah, Kalanithi Maaran, and more will invest, according to ARM, Nelson, Pa. Ranjith, Siva, and Venkat Prabhu, but they and the audience have never seen Jeyamohan talk about it. But if young makers are trying hard to adjust within budget + offering more than the budget output, then people like him will interfere.
Yes, Malayalam films are boring sometimes due to slow-paced storytelling that is opposite to normal, but when people like Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Arun Matheswaran failed at the start of the year, that industry came up with Bramayugam and the other two movies.
