I need to buy a extension board for work purpose. I decided to go for Portronics Extension board. Will the unused sockets also consume power when powered on? because it has one switch for multiple sockets. Someone please explain.

I don't feel shame when I don't know something and ask for assistance here. This is the big doubt I had for a long time and it just got cleared.
Thank you so much Bro

if the pigeons and other birds sitting on high voltage power lines do not complete any 'circuit' .. to 'consume' the electrical power
then a device built to standards,
if used as per specifications is unlikely to draw or consume power from the unused sockets.
Extreme cases of weather phenomenon like very high humidity or things like Saint Elmo's fire may immediately not be relevant for average use case scenarios.
In-fact even those are highly unlikely to result in continued excess power consumption. The circuit breakers, fuse would do their job.
As mentioned by others, any indicator lights or LEDs would obviously draw negligible power, if they are working.
Arcing in any shape or form and of any magnitude are to be addressed accordingly though.
One also should generally be careful not to act in ways that might lead to internal component failure or fusing of powet lines inside (these could be due to overheating or other misuse too).
I am not from electrical background though and one would be better of doing their own due diligence and cross checks.

unused sockets never consume power:)
(maybe that small LED indicator, if you have will consume a very small amount of electricity, other than that it shouldn't)
its how electricity works:) -> basics
so dont worry too much about it, just buy and use
