Let's send a request together

I don't see any harm in sending the port request, at least it will signal jio that consumers are willing to make a move with their move.

Send PORT 9876543210 to 1900

Replace the mobile number with the number you're sending it from.

Make a move where ?

Airtel and VI would announce their hikes soon.

Ironically even BSNL hikes their tariffs but they don't get much attention.

The telecom market is a duopoly, these tactics don't work anymore.

Yes I also want to port from vi to Jio.

How many days will it take to actually port into Jio?

Jio is too big to fail and moreover they are the real one deep state player. Won't have any impact on them with portout request.

They already discount it while making a new policy like price hike that few customers will port out as an immediate reaction.

They don't care as they know it's a temporary and knee jerk reaction which doesn't last long.

Moreover I won't be surprised that by the time your number is ported to other network providers, they will also announce the price hike. (if you actually are porting) And I fear it will be more than what Jio did. neutral_face

Porting out won't solve anything unless you have other issues with JIO ither than the tariff hike. Other telecoms will surely announce the hike by tomorrow, and they don't offer easy and transparent recharge queuing as JIO. Airtel allows advance recharge only on the unlimited plans, and then you can only recharge in advance with the same plan that you're currently on. I'm not sure, but I've heard a few times in the past that Vi also allows recharging in advance though I haven't used it.

JIO allows queueing up the recharges, or even purchasing vouchers instead which gives added flexibility.. But despite of their shortcomings, they still have the best phone call quality that I've ever experienced. I understand that you might not have the same opinion since the network coverage varies significantly, thus the experience. But this is what happens when there is a mono or duopoly in the market.

Now which giant will come to help us all again from telecom sharks..

I feel jio is not charging/not charging for keeping a dormant sim and still the prices are more competitive from jio side.
