I tried bit.ly right now
currently, it’s not showing any ads while link opening
in future will it show something like 3 sec. skip button ?
There are too many url shortner. I prefer bit.ly
Use them
Bit.do also good for custom url
@प्रीत की लत मोहे ऐसी लागी हो गयी मैं मतवारी Pritt3.14, purely as a tired person or lazy sloth i started using Google’s shortner after someone added a thitd party add-on (extension) on my computer/browser.
though not useful for generating custom URLs (none that i could figure out)
this WAS/IS useful as it shows up in the context menu (right click/ secondary mouse button).
so to create the short url, just two clicks or keytaps do it. right click > create googl url.
after orkut and their geolocator (ip trace) site when too googl started showing that (service disruption) notice (which you partly quoted) i checked back
with that add-on, and it was still working.
later, i think after logging in to some google account, even goo.gl started showing history of urls previously created.
try logging into some old account/s and recheck, if you find googl worth it)

bit.ly, goo.gl
@ḾᾍJἘşṬίḉ or any of the older interwebs users ( @login33 @B@R_0_0_D @Jackal @bdyXsGhZ aka Venkat @Penguin laapata Tiwari @panchabhut @Oliver.ferns759 @Sudha123 @Achilles @cybertechie @farzi maal @dead third time lucky man @xyz user online "@Dark " Sexy Surd" bot":https://www.desidime.com/use...20 ) or techies like @zafar_khan @Rich “octopus, sea food eating” Soul @alientechyyy or others here ( @getready @DaBomb @Mengade_Aditya @Roushhhhhhhhh )hope some of this is helpful
.
recollect having used (or do use) notlong.com ? @Barcode it is a simplistic and no frills service from World War | era thus not really short. (first used it in 2003 or so).
but the site used to to remain up and worked fine.
you may consider it if you want.
in last few years though, found v.gd better (reliable, ethical, blah blah) but now moved to its sister/daughter/ daughter-in-law site is.gd
is.gd is good (lame pun intended) and so is v.gd
.
v.gd and is.gd can generate short code without. need to manually input custom name, notlong.com (in sofar as i know), can not do without having to type the name.
.
Pros:
√ since rather unknown or less popular, they usually still have the custom URL one wants to put.
√ rather clean, simple, basic (thus easier to use) interface.
√ @Barcode can get QRcode of link.
√ can check stats and easily check the actual link by adding a hyphen (dash, minus sign) to the base url (if one doubts the link might lead to a dirty site or is a referral)Cons
™ some restrictions on use of hyphen. it is like the days of 486 486 computers, filenames, paths can have underscore but hyphen may not work.
™ i think is.gd puts a timer freeze on popular proxies or VPN for using certain functions.
™ haven’t probed if one cab create an account, but quite certain that one can’t save links in our onsite account.
but is.gd does let one check the recently created list this might be device or cookies specific
.
hope you already know or have heard of owly, supr @Barcode and no, neither bitly nor owly, supr are like those spammy adfly type sites that force irrelevant pages.
ow.ly
su.pr
.
.
@Barcode , further to the last point under pros list..
can check desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/topics/flipkart-free-delivery-trick-for-dimers-who-don-t-know?page=1#post_5818429
.
base link is.gd/no_ff
can be verified. direct target is seen at
is.gd/no_ff-and
stats at is.gd/stats.php?url=no_ff
right thanks.
.
.
so now (if) your one’s site is no longer up, by any chance, are the links somehow saved / replaceable with service provider url.
for example: one may only create
archive.is/iMbAG
but
archive.fo/iMbAG and archive.today/iMbAG are created/ parsed by default.
.
similarly, (say) if siteofRoushhhh.com/testlink is down or not live… would yourls.org/testlink or something like that work by anychance?
thanks again @Roushh
I have used it for a year then I stopped using it because I did not require URL shortener anymore.
Yes, it’s useful for people who already have a website. Otherwise they will have to invest. In that case, use bit.ly as it’s much better than others.
