anyone has any idea if we simply place the thermocol sheets over the roof top (place some bricks on top of them so that it wont flew away) it will reduce the heat being transferred to the underlying rooms?
if yes then what will be the criterai for choosing thermocol sheets? (like density, online availability etc)
if any one has any experience please share..
Edit: Found an idea here https://www.thebetterindia.com/56836/aluminium-...

This reminds me of one notable incident
Tamil Nadu minister tried to prevent evaporation by covering the surface of a dam with sheets of polystyrene

😬😬
I have seen black plastic balls over lakes that supply drinking water in a youtube video, forgot the name but this is new 😒
Reflective surfaces are used for this purpose
No experience with thermocol sheets but we used to get the reflective painting (Cool home, they used to call it locally) done for the terrace during summers
ideally over these thermocol sheets an aluminium foil can be placed to reflect the heat further..
The very first criteria OP should check is, the thermocol sheets should not have access to Monkeys
Someone just found it before you.

This one is interesting..vu+kg bro
One can use rejected ceramic tiles
Rate will be around 10-12Rs SQFT…will also help with waterproofing
Another one found is
But no mention of the thermocol sheet specification..
there are no special specifications, thermocol sheets come with different thickness, and you may choose the thickest available. retails stationary price will be 20-30. as you’ll need dozens of it you may get some discount.
If the terrace is waterproof, then you may place a green net/ jute bags above 2-5 inch from the ground and wet it frequently.

Earlier when ACs used to be a premium thing, i remember seeing Thermocol interior ceilings for heatproofing.
You can try with Heavy Cloth Tarpaulin and keeping air gaps in between terrace and tarpaulin using bricks placement at intervals.
