Phishing Alert : impersonating @ICICIBank
I got a call from unknown number (pic 1) and he says he's calling on behalf of icici bank. Here's the conversation
Executive : your card protection plan deduction will happen tommrow of Rs 3650 on your emeralde private credit card
Me : CPP is given free of cost by all banks, why do I need to pay seperately
Executive : it's payable every 6 months, so total yearly premium is Rs 7300
Me : how to cancel it
Executive : go to https://cppupdate.info/store/
Click login and download the app. Appstore like environment has been created on the Web page that downloads apk file
Me : at this stage I already knew that it's phishing. I acted as if iam following his instructions.
Executive : install karke, login karo sir
Me : yes, logged in with mobile Otp, next batao (acting only)
Executive: go to my cards section, enter ur card details, date, CVV to request for CPP cancellation
Me : entered I said
Executive : sir, iam not able to see your card details
Me : I entered card details fully, tell me what's next process
Executive : after entering, you will get Otp, enter the Otp. That's it, we will cancel CPP from here
Me : had I followed the steps, he would have looted my card account left right and center..
