I foresee a visit to Kaneda next year and hence applied for a passport recently (on 10-09).
On 11-09 I received an SMS informing me that I can expect police verification within three weeks and if I don't receive a call from them, I should visit my nearest police station.
However, on 26-09 I received an SMS that my passport is on the way and will be delivered shortly! Sure enough, it was delivered a couple of days later without any police verification.
Do I still need to do a police verification or I am good to go? I don't want them stopping me at the airport saying ki verification karwake aao pehle.
Anybody here received their passport without PV?
This is not a fresh passport but a renewed one.

Police Verification will happen later. You should get an SMS from police station informing you the date and time when you need to visit them for the verification and the required documents to bring.

Yes, I was informed today by a policewoman that I automatically received police clearance so I am good to go!

for normal - renewal, you will get SMS update only after police verification as it was done for me/family member few months back, police verification is mainly to check your identity/address/any criminal records etc and only after they send the confirmation to Passport Seva office, you will get the info whether passport is issued or not (this I got to know from the police officer who came for verification as he was having the details in the tablet)

I did my renewal earlier this and got the passport without the need to go to police station. Police verification did happen at the background though (without me knowing anything about it)
I think this happened in my case too as I was told by a policewoman today that I don't need to worry if I already received my passport.
Police verification is done to check the background of person. Normally it's police who calls person to police station and do verification process.
But in reality police has to come to the house of the person and do verification process.
In this case it's renewal of passport so may be police did background check by other means so no call from Station.

I received my passport without police verification long ago but I had applied during my college days living in the hostel. After submitting the application, I remember checking the status online which used to say "pending until police verification completion" and then after a couple of weeks the status showed "passport approved. Sent for printing". Within a week I received my passport. And no, once you receive the passport, it's done. No one will stop you anywhere.

i dont think so, the passport is allotted only after verification.
so if it is allotted already then it must be skipped by police.
