iam ordering some item from Dubai
Its weight is almost like 3 kgs and size is slight bigger than mobile phone box
Just wanted to know wil it get stuck in customs ?
If yes then how they calculate for which item they need custom charges because some of my friends ordered and there items got released without custom charges so how do they calculate , is it the weight of item or the pricing .

The sender usually has to give a description of what is in the box and it is upto the discretion of the customs officials to check or let it pass. If they think it might be some sort of valuable item they are sure to check. But even so if it turns out to be a perfectly normal item it wont get 'stuck' with them unless it is something they deem to be a dangerous item.
As for charges, customs dept has a long detailed list of items and the corresponding charges that they have determined who knows how long back. That is the amount that you would have to pay.
and depends on the judgement (and whims) of the local official/ employees (who may think it is not worth it and let go... or... might decide that according to them it contains Uranium 233 and has to be valued as such, even if it has worthless stones).
Instead if it is connected to big cargo movers like Fedex, DHL (shoddy bluedart in India).. then Usually they let the small fish slip by.. as they catch the large fish. (With international cargo carriers, freight forwarders it might be possible for things to slip through with less intense scrutiny.)
Yes, cargo carriers charge freight on the 'w/v' (weight by volume) basis.. so technically the customs too look at both things.
If yours is some loose (unboxed) electronics or household items,
or stuff that does not cause curiosity.. then your package too might be cleared based solely on your declaration.
Else, legally, the cargo carrier or the customs can also open a sealed package to check for contents.
[P.S.: the 'weight by volume' system is a universal one. For example: you might have a bottle of mercury. It might occupy less volume, but have lot of weight.
Contrast to that you might have just two kilograms of polystyrene balls, but those thermocol beads would be occupying disproportionate area.
Hence shipping charges are calculated on the weight by volume basis and customs too are on a lookout for things that might be declared to be a particular HSN code but seems to be another ]
