Modi government has been in mission mode to get into every single of your devices and communications. Required policy for transforming India into a full fledged, China type surveillance state
Now they’re hell bent on breaking encryption, which will put every single of us at risk in multiple ways. That is if WhatsApp agrees to their demand instead of just exiting
The best part is that fake news ploy is being used to break encryption when government is itself the biggest source of fake news by far. 😁
This will be a massive and hugely regressive move with regards to every user’s privacy and security. It will mean not just government but other entities will be able to get into your messages.

I actually wished this happened, at least for Whatsapp. Cheaters, fraudsters use WhatsApp on daily basis, own experience, don’t bother to tell otherwise. Scammy little app. Also people really shouldn’t have any problem giving consent to their phones data to be tracked. What are they scared of? If you are homo and need to hang out with your homo friend but ashamed that others will know, or that info might be leaked, there are secured apps like Signal for that purpose, use that.
PS: This is not gonna happen by the way, at least I don’t think so. Like someone said above, they themselves share their propaganda shites through WhatsApp, so it’ll be like shooting at your own feet.

I have posted once about the same topic before, privacy is a myth in today’s world. Even if you own a feature phone you are prone to being snooped. I don’t trust any government with my data, but the problem is you can not be a technical isolationist anymore. Every single action of yours have a trail , all you can hope is making some strong laws to protect your data. One of the perils of having to live in this technological world. Unless you are a cave dweller or a islander remote to even reach then tough luck , you are not that secure that you might think. All this silly jibes on any government can do you no good, except show your own political bias. Read more about Prism by NSA to get an idea of how snooping on someone is easy in today’s world. All your beloved Chinese Redmi, Realmi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei, OnePlus and countless others send your data to China daily, and here you are crying and try to portray the current government as some villain. What the government wanted was localized data and access to something which countless other foreign agencies has already on your data. As much as I dread it , it’s unavoidable.

It’s a sad fact that Indians extremely poor concept of privacy and it can be seen from many posts here.
Fact is that privacy is not an isolated entity. What they are doing is actually a direct attack on the foundations of democracy and also of security. A surveillance state and democracy cannot co exist. The balance of power shifts heavily in favour of the government. And it seems many don’t realize that most major crimes happen with the blessing of the government. They don’t want you to see that simple fact that’s why they desperately keep trying to portray ordinary citizens as criminals, tax evaders and potential terrorists and whatnot.
Juat remember that the government (any government) is not your friend. It is made up of the best thugs in society. The smarter ones evade detection and even succeed in maintaining a clean, socialist image.
Then there are those who think we are already a democracy so there is nothing to do. Fact is that India is a flawed democracy even on the democracy index. And they don’t like that too, so they are trying hard to get rid of democracy itself, so the flaw is obliterated 😏
There is no difference between US PRISM surveillance and Chinese surveillance, both are on the different ends of spectrum. US agencies can pull whatever data they want using Patriot Act. Chinese don’t need that, that’s the difference. All I am saying is in this technologically advanced world being a isolationist will not work. That’s it

Thing is even most politician data is compromised and they have no idea. NSA is spying all foreign leader along with it’s citizen and other common man. Our political leaders knowledge is very limited.
And most of all, people are ready to sell their own data for pocket change themselves. Who can save them (I tried to warn in few post but who listen when they are getting something out of nothing). Maybe I will initiate a new project (website) to inform people about safety and privacy tips however how many will listen will be another debatable story.

If Google, Facebook and other corporations have gone evil, they need to be fixed. Their actions don’t justify evil by others, much less the government. The government has to me measured by much higher standards, because it’s actions cannot be motivated just by profit. And if they do the same it is a way more serious crime. In fact know that it has become a mafia.
And simple fact is that what government is doing is much worse than Google or Facebook ever can.

Just because some crooks succeeded to get away with some mischievous ways to get everyone’s details easily that doesn’t approve for any such atrocities again. It’s not the way of doing things, that has happened. It happened due to the loopholes in the system/ policies, the technological illiteracy of people, that is not going to be the same forever! One fine day, people are gonna understand what’s happening around and they will fight back for sure. But if nothing left to that day to fight for, how can they even fight? Your lack of privacy compromises your rights and eventually your freedom to speak anything about it.
