New RBI New Card Network Rule: 🔥🔥🔥
1. Banks have to issue cards with multiple card networks (VISA/Mastercard/Rupay/Amex etc).
2. Customer has the right to choose their own card network at the time of opting new card or anytime later during the card membership.
3. Banks cannot deny customer request.
4. Rule applies from 1st October 2023.

Was getting tired of getting Visa cards all the time even after requesting for Rupay. This is a good move.
So it's only applicable if the bank has that card already available on multiple networks right? For example will we be able to demand sbi cashback rupay card?
I have kotak mojo visa card .Yesterday I called and asked to convert Variant from visa to rupay but they decided to do it.
If this works out without any bias or limitations from banks, it will be surgical strike on MC, Visa.
Finally something good coming from RBI side.
Note that it is still a draft proposal and may not even become a rule as early as October. It may come eventually later though. Very good proposal by RBI.

You can't use rupay on international websites. I would choose visa anyday.
