How are NCD taxed?

If it is sold before the maturity then Capital Gains.

If matured, then interest income under other sources.

Taxation of NCD:-

Interest Income:-

The Interest on the NCD will be taxed as per your tax slab.

Capital gains Tax:-

Short-Term Capital Gain:-

For debenture sold witin one year:-

The capital gain is short term and hence taxed at slab rate.

Long-Term Capital Gain:-

For debenture sold after 1 year:-

The capital gain is long term and  they will be taxed at 10% (without indexation)
