The best advice I got from someone:
If you are buying a new car, buy the lowest base variant ever possible (obviously if you are not feature savvy nerd)
The car companies are using base model price (i.e starting from 5.99 lacs) to attract customers. They are not even interested in discussing the base model. Once you have decided to buy, they will try everything to make you buy higher variants.
Last diwali, I bought Hyundai EXTER EX (Base model) at 6.5L (onroad) in Gujarat. Showroom gave me quotation around 7.23L.
Calculation to understand how you can save a lot money. Here is the example of my Hyundai Exter EX model (Ex showroom price was 599900 at that time)
NOBODY WILL TELL YOU THIS
Ex. Factory price : 450039
Dealer profit : 15000
Ex. Dealer yard price : 465039
28% GST : 130211
1% cess : 4650
Ex. Showroom price : 599900
RTO Tax : 27003 (6% of Ex. Factory price)
RTO RC Smart Card : 200
RTO Registration Fee : 600
Insurance : 21380 (1yr full + 2 yr third party, my advice : take insurance from policybazar, you will save a lot)
Hypothecation fee : 1500 (applicable only for loan/finance, i paid all cash/cheque, so wasn't applicable to me)
Vehicle Number Plate : 1000
Agent Fee : 2500 (when customer care called me to ask my experience, feedback and ratings of their salesman, i told them that I didn't like when charged me for agent fee of 2500 and only gave 9 out of 10 ratings, then they offered me 1000 gift card, if i reconsider of 10 out of 10, so i agreed)
Fastag : 300 (bought from outside, 100 rs. issuance + 200 rs. recharge)
Total Onroad price : 652883

And on the savings parts it's like one needs something and other people don't need those accessories. It's a purely heterogeneous choice and can't be homogeneous to choose a base variant or a higher variant of the car. One size fits all is never good.

well then it depends from person to person, i count car as a medium of transportation only, plus one has to think about the budget also. one can get EXTER top model and CRETA base model at the same price, i would have gone for CRETA base model.
Very useful info. Thanks.
is 5 years insurance not mandatory?
two wheeler: 5 yr mandatory
four wheeler: 3 yr mandatory
you can also buy just third party insurance from day one.
What abt fastag charges ? These are forcefully charged to you
Bought the fastag from outside at 300 (100 rs. issuance + 200 rs. recharge)
let me update the thread.
Follow simple math. List what 'additional' you are getting for the price difference between various 'models/variants' available.
Check what all can be fitted later on and what cannot or will not be as seamless as the factory fitted one.
The main point here is, 'Is the additional cost worth'.
If you have invoice they mention how it makes up ex-showroom in that isn’t it? Insurance there are other tricks like move from private players to national you will save good amount. Accessories, we can avoid except car cover. Under body coating must. Rest there will be models in mid variant as well that are called bang for buck. It’s not true that base model is always best, except one is looking for engine, four doors and tyres
Invoice is handed over at the time of delivery after 100% payment. Having this information, you can ask the salesman why they are charging for extra money before payment. and most of the new car buyers are the first timers. this info is for them, not for you. when i was preparing for car purchase, didn't find any info anywhere on internet that RTO tax is calculated on ex-factory price and not on ex-showroom price.
I'm looking to either buy a new car or get as good as new second hand car from Spinny.
Spinny used cars are so overpriced, that I felt it's better to go for new cars
In India a car is a status symbol and that's why most people buy it on their higher budget side. In your post also you mentioned you will buy creta over top model exter because that might give you a higher status. So basically the more amount of money one spends on any luxurious item the more one feels accomplished.
And on the savings parts it's like one needs something and other people don't need those accessories. It's a purely heterogeneous choice and can't be homogeneous to choose a base variant or a higher variant of the car. One size fits all is never good.
Bookmarked.
Any one here bought using GST of the company.... you can save 28 % as input? any comments here..
Yes, you can claim GST
Edit: I answered 'yes' because a friend of mine claimed GST on his car 2-3 years ago. Don't know the situation right now. better consult with your CA.
i will tell you why i bought brezza top model.
1) 6 Airbags all other models have 2
2) sun roof(looks cool)
3) vehicle tracking(very useful if you use driver for your car) and you can stop the car with app if somebody steals your car.
4)360 camera (i have fitted my alto with aftermarket(tvs) but it still not so good.)
side moulding etc are quite good from original maruti as adhesive is of better quality
Tin ka dibba has so many features lol
Which SUV Car is good to buy? Tata Punch vs Nissan Magnite new models/facelift?
Did you make a decision! Only doubt with the magnite is it's 1.0 litre engine. I have the same doubt too.
