Once I was sitting in a group, where this person (let us call the person 'Roshan') started asking.. oh I have to choose a secret santa gift for someone at my workplace
please suggest what do I do.. what do I take.
And almost the whole group went in overdrive with ideas, suggestions.
I simply had that 'rolling my eyes" expression.. as we sat across the table..
.. while the so called gift recipient, sitting at another table not too far.. might have been listening to all the chatter (of people suggesting 'Roshan'.. what to gift to her).
I just 'randomly' picked up the name, as it is gender neutral, sort of.
There is no resemblance to or reference to any such person by the name 'Roshan' and any such resemblance should be treated as mere coincidence only.
Generally, I feel it to be a VERY POOR adaptation/ borrowing of something that reeks of 'wannabe' culture.. in the garb of trying to 'celebrate' festivities.. hence I would avoid partaking any such (lame) endeavours.
Or maybe time will come when offices 'celebrate' rang-panchmi by having colleagues smother each other with colours, gujhiya
celebrate rakshabandhan by having colleagues treat each other as siblings
celebrate lohri by having similar gifting ceremonies,
celebrate samvatsari (on the last day of Paryushan) and Kshamavani by having the colleagues seek forgiveness from each other..
or have them treat each other to sheer khurma, dry fruits, eidi and THEN i might consider these things as regularly done activities and (sort of) acceptable 'norm'.
please suggest what do I do.. what do I take.
