No such convinient option exists where you can buy cover after incurring claim (ie. sure profit scheme).
Thats not how insurance works, you need to purchase policy before any claims and then there are waiting period for preexisting diseases also.
He is covered by the CGHS if he worked for the central government and if he worked for a state government, he is covered by State government insurance / ESIC (Employees' State Insurance). Information can be found on their websites.
I am not sure if it's cashless or you get reimbursement.
Yeah but the option to reimbursement is looking complex since our cashless claim with employee insurance is denied
Cashless claim may have been denied but in CGHS or state insurance you can claim afterwards also depending on the coverage and terms.

BOB customers,
Can I add my family members to the group health insurance plan
Under the family floater option, dependents such as spouse, children (between 3 months to 26 years), and parents can be included in the Chola MS group health insurance policy . It is necessary to include dependents at the time of proposing for the policy, as midterm inclusion is not allowed except for newborn babies or newly married individuals. Eligibility for coverage extends to adults aged 18 to 70 years and children aged 3 months to 26 year
For OP , google search gave :
