Both devices share the same number, but will work (kind of) independently.
Airtel forces you to be on of the Infiniti postpaid plans. Jio allows prepaid plans too AFAIK.

for apple watches incase anyone had a query:
1) same esim can be in phone and watch. no need to get different or new esim just for watch.
2) no need to recharge for watch separate,it uses pack recharged for mobile.
3) since indian iphones have one esim and one physical sim, both the ones can be used to set up lte in apple watch as i have tried both. ie esim and physical one.
4) in my case both my nos are jio prepaid.
5) also both the esim and physical sim in my iphone are added to my apple watch. takes 5 mins each sim to get done. you can decide which sim to receive call and messages from if not both.
6) my one is a cellular model so the gps one might have some restrictions obviously so there's that.
so yes both devices will work independently. and no need to recharge separately in gist of it all.
hope this helps someone.
KG given for your efforts to explain.
Both devices will work independently from different locations - Yes. However battery drains very quickly on the watch if it is not connected to wifi and uses lte data.
I was using Jio Prepaid, last month shifted to postpaid to save money. In both jio -pre/post no need for any seperate plans.
Using Series 7 LTE 45mm. Both my phone's sim and watch sim are esim. I don't have physical sim of this jio number.
same 7 45mm lte. also how did postpaid help u save more?
i have 2 jio sims in my phone one esim one physical and both are added to my watch. and yes using mobile data uses charge.. basically need to charge once every day. fast charge is a blessing on the watch!
off topic : how useful is this
basically with lte models of samsung and apple watches,u can take calls and messages without having phone with you. yday i was at the gym and my brother watsappd me asking where am i. i just switched on the mic and said on my way and it typed that and sent it to him. good for convenience and tech loving people. in my case it helps me stay off my smartphone for a long period of time as you know how addictive social media has become nowadays lol
hows the battery backup of samsung galaxy watch 4 lte ? im hardly getting 6 hrs with lte and data on. is it the same for everyone or should i visit the svc center ?
Can I pair a new apple watch for my family member (father) and on that apple watch can I activate esime with his number?
1. Airtel prepaid nor postpaid or esim phone, nothing will work.
2. jio works with any android mobile.
3. If call comes, it will ring on both watch and mobile.
4. Even phone switched off, call comes in watch.
