Low cost option for secondary sim

Guys currently I am using BSNL sim as secondary sim which cost me ₹107 for 35 days but there are many issues with BSNL like sometime not receiving calls and callers complaining your number was not reachable, most of the time I am not receiving OTPs, once or twice a week, there is no signal for few hours etc

So can someone suggest alternative low cost option for secondary sim? Main purpose is to receive incoming calls, bank otps and rarely for verification like bank apps or payment app like phonepe and rate calls to bank customer care

Devil is in the details. How much cheaper is the question. Jio and Airtel can make it cheaper by 10 rupees for annual plan and say they are following orders

Go for Jio, incoming calls and otps works without any recharge, if you have to verify that sim just recharge it with 189rs

BSNL has 91 plan for 60 days that is cheaper. Works out to about Rs.550 per year

Cheapest in Jio would be Rs 1899 /336 days

BSNL signal varies from room to room even in my small apt - try to find the best spot where you get good signal, maybe near the windows

been using the 91 recharge for a long time.
Initially the validity was 80 or 90 days, few months back they reduced sad

@rikkuartz Yea BSNL keeps reducing validity period all the time instead of hiking rates.

Their per min and per sec plans used to be for 60 days now down to 35 days. Yearly plan down to 300 days from 365. They even had an awesome PV of Rs 60 or so for 730 day validity. Gone are those acche din.

But despite all this, they are cheaper than others for keeping SIM active.

The only option is JIO...

Recharge RC199 Once Every 6 Months... To keep sim active

What is the use of that second resem if you cannot make a call or receive a call. I am not sure if receiving a call will be impacted in the Jio but was certain every other operators stop your incoming and outgoing

jio is a option for receiving otp/call as they dont stop them after recharge, just need to do 1 month recharge in every 3 months, but for call/outgoing sms there is no more cheaper option, all r more or less same

I havent recharged some jio numbers for multiple yrs while receiving uncompromised incoming service. I doubt anything will work out cheaper than this. Bsnl can be cheaper but service quality will be shit. One can't even receive freaking otp in time even when one has active plans.

I am using bsnl 201 plan. I Have noticed one thing those people who brought jio sim long ago and haven't ported out they continue to receive incoming calls without any recharge for long time but I had ported one of my sim to jio recently and incoming stops few days after recharge.

I was using 201 plan too but 91 plan works out to be cheaper

201 is good if using the free minutes and data

Same case with Jio - validity remains months after expiry and their customer rep will keep on calling for recharge or else number will be terminated but it has not happened. Maybe depends circle to circle depending on demand

Seems a great plan for secondary sim. Btw for how many days incoming calls/sms remain active after expiry of this plan? (I was a Vi user long ago but switched to jio due to Vi's mandatory recharge for incoming policy)

On Airtel or Vi 509 plan can be done for 409 using rupay platinum dc on amazon.

136 per month with unltd calls.

Which is far better than tolerating bsnl crap.

How is BSNL Working in Tier 1 & 2 cities, any idea?

Deal Newbie Deal Newbie
Link Copied

totally depends on the network load, utilisation by BSNL (they were forced to help Reliance Jio.. who are using the BSNL towers cell sites and other infrastructure in many places) and the devices used by the users.

usually, using BSNL numbers in a keypad phone is less hassle than in Android, iOS devices, but that too might be topical.

depending on which locations they could migratie their infrastructure, the internet speeds are good and internet outages or downtimes are less.

I think bsnl as a second sim is good, as long as the primary sim is Jio or airtel. In my town bsnl covg is quite good and internet speed is also quite okay for rare usages. There are times when only bsnl sim works in some villages etc. vodafone is worse, but I have it because it's a free office sim and never bothered to  change it. Both my parents have jio as primary and bsnl as secondary. Time to time we recharge 107rs bsnl plan for 35 days. My wife and me use airtel as primary, since very long time, so never switched. Her Secondary Jio sim has not been recharged for almost 2 years. Last time I loaded some 200-300 rs as talk time. That time they used to allow it as I read somewhere that if we don't use the sim, there is some penalty. Not sure where that went, but incoming calls and sim still works. In that way Jio sim might be great for secondary.
