Generally I refer the comments section of the below 3 mega-threads for any credit card related existing info (might want to add the links in the wiki for reference) : https://www.desidime.com/discussions/credit-car... https://www.desidime.com/discussions/credit-car... https://www.desidime.com/discussions/credit-car...
Coming back to the main thread queries, here's my take: HDFC: You already covered most, just want to add one things regarding multiple cc's; If you happen to have a credit limit of 10L+ on your existing card, you can get that split into cards via your RM, this is how many people have both Infinia and DCB; It works generally especially when you have DCB with said mentioned limit, you can simply tell that the diners network is limiting your spends, so you want to get it split with Infinia. Do note that just CL of 10L won't suffice, your actual spends also needs to be in a decently high to get qualified for the second card. SBI: Nothing to add much, you already covered what I know. Axis: Axis LIC Credit Cards are something that is offered as LTF for any LIC policy holder (variant depends on your policy premium value or ITR/Salary), need to be applied directly from LIC office/agent and not via Axis bank... Axis Insta Easy CC is a secured CC that one can get it directly over the counter based on his FD, and the beauty of this card is that generally this secured card becomes unsecured (FD limit/lien is removed) after about 8-12 months basis your usage pattern; will remain LTF as usual; so pretty good anyone looking to start his cc journey with nil cibil score. BoB: Well, BoB is BoB, no words here XD ICICI: You covered up most, just adding one more; ICICI MMT CC (platinum/signature) are pretty much LTF cards, you just need to pay a joining fees, no annual fees; much like any IndusInd CCs. Amex: Amex has a unique and a beautiful concept of "companion" cards; You hold a payable Gold charge card, you get a free MRCC which stays LTF untill you hold your gold card; The gold card in this case acts like a parent card, the mrcc like a child card; similar thing for any pair, you only pay for the higher variant, the lesser variant becomes ltf. Citibank: You can hold upto 3 cards afaik, 1 will be the normal one, the other 2 will be a co-branded like iocl/paytm/ikea/shoppers. Getting a Citi card is tough job for anyone already holding 3-4 cards or more. Anyways Citi is gonna hand over it's retail business in India soon. IndusInd: just like HDFC, only 1 allowed in general; rare cases of 2 also exists, especially for people holding Iconia Amex, since they get the 2nd one mentioning low acceptance rate of Amex as a reason.
Will add more info later wink

@sathish666 Ask your bank to change billing cycle, except BoB and One Card many banks will change. Also, try RUSSH app or else go with excel.

Indusind – pinnacle credit card is good. but has a big joining fee smile

Icici – correction you can have any number of ccs

Axis – you can have up to 4 ccs (1 premium and 3 retail )

Indusind having unique feature of LTF by coughing up some fee initially. The joining fee is reimbursed in the form of amazon gift vouchers so what you loose is just the GST component on that joining fees. Since, it’s a fee for whole life, we can easily recover it so everyone must possess the Indusind Pinnacle card.

@BlueFlash – Thanks Bro , You added up many points which I was unaware of , any idea on the AddOn Cards from CitiBank , Amex and Indusind.
I feel InstaEasy CC is not LTF anymore , Axis Bank has made even FD based cards chargeable @ Rs.500 + GST , correct me if I am wrong.

@luciferous – Thanks for providing the inputs on on Axis Cards ,it would be great if you can provide an example for the Card variants in Axis. which will come in Premium and Retails segment
Coming to ICICI , please enlighten us regarding Any number of CC’s in ICICI stuck_out_tongue , I am too much interested in this.

RBL allows multiple cards. I think the Limit is 3.
Rather than one best card I would suggest everyone to have these 3 cards Axis Ace, Axis Flipkart and Amazon Apay.

A ton of thanks for this mega thread @beastboy

I noticed you put weight on add-on cards in each bank. As far as I know it’s only useful to filter other/family user’s spends on primary card. But what am I missing here?

Critic Critic
Link Copied
Most Add-on cards have different card number, so each card is individually eligible for those 10% card discount offer that runs on Flipkart/Amazon/etc.; However if the card number is same (like in HDFC), then no use in this particular scenario.

I have a query to people holding add-on cards: How does CIBIL treat add-on cards ? Do they show up as a different entry (assuming different card number) in the credit report or does it gets clubbed in the same primary card, so no new entry; And if it’s bank specific, let me know.
Basically I wanna know, will availing add-on cards increase the number of credit card entries in my cibil report ?

If you are primary card holder and giving addon card to parents / siblings then they may or may not have a credit entry in their Cibil and vice versa depending on the bank , I have seen Cibil entries for HSBC , Kotak and Citi Bank Add On , No Entries from Yes Bank and BOB , yet to test for SBI , Axis , ICICI , RBL , Standard Chartered and Indusind AddOn

Itna jabardasti kyun kar rahe. Having more than 3-4 cards might get you into trouble while availing loans. They will assume you as a credit hungry person. And no matter how high the CIBIL score is you ll come under risky category.
Take my suggestion. Take only 3 cards. 1) for lounge access 2) for cashback 3) a mix of both. And fuel necessities too Have a good debit card to avail cashback on bill payment. That’s it. Avoid cobranded cards

Deal Lieutenant Deal Lieutenant

I don't think having more than 3 cards will get anyone in trouble while availing loans if payment of card is made on time. I am holding more than 3 cards and I always get pre-approved loan offers from my banks.

I actually applied for idfc credit card from their website. I have an excellent credit score 800+ and i have never defaulted payments ever on my existing cards. Those a**es still refused my application and did not even give a reason. Now applying for another bank card has a risk of rejection too till 6 months. I have a stable and good income from past 5 years

I also faced the same issue with IDFC Credit Card though holding IDFC savings account and good CIBIL score also. In fact, they sent a message earlier saying eligible for Credit Card but didn’t apply that time. But, when applied recently, it was rejected with no reason.
Looks IDFC Bank criteria is not clear in issuing credit cards.

IndusInd Pinnacle vs IndusInd Legend – I’m holding a Legend card with a free upgrade offer to Pinnacle. But holding on to Legend as it gives 2% (weekends) even for wallet loads. Pinnacle I hear gives only 1.5% or 0.7% on Wallet loads (although it comes under online spends category.)

Additionally, if we spend 6L in a calendar year using the Legend we get 4000 points (Rs.4000/-) so that’s an additional 0.66% on top of 2%. The only catch here is all your spends need to be over the weekend which could be quite a hassle.
