1. Jaitley has said that 10% is too low and he is planning to increase duty from 10% to 15%
Effective increase in Custom duty on mobiles will be from 17.1% (Pre-GST Total Import Duty) to 15+12 = 27% (New Import Duty after GST)
There is increase in import duty by 10-12% for other electronic items such as laptops, notebooks, printers, projectors (Welcome to Digital India)
2. What normal citizens (slaves) don’t know is that states have full power under the present GST system to introduce any additional taxes. Most states are planning to introduce few % (2-5%) entry tax. They may not introduce them immediately, but we will see these modifications in 2-3 years time.

2. Is everything gonna have 28% GST?
Nah, some products have 28% tax, some 18, some 12 and some even 0%.
3. Is GST a good step?
Yes. For eg. Restaurants used to set their own service tax. Now they have to use a fixed value.
4. Will everything’s price go up?
Nop, as I said earlier, some will be cheap and some will be expensive.
4. On what things is 28% tax implemented?
TV, Refrigerators, Washing Machines, Ovens, etc., Aerated Drinks, Cement, Wrist Watches, Weapons.
Also Cars and Heavy Bikes. +Cess. Movie Tickets above 100Rs and 5 star hotels.
5. What is tax free?
Essential farm produced mass consumption items like milk, cereals, fruits, vegetable, jaggery (gur), food grains, rice and wheat. Common use and mass consumption food items such as spices, tea, coffee, sugar, vegetable/ mustard oil; newsprint, coal and Indian sweets.
*Gold and precious metals and stones are at 3% tax.
6. Mobile Phones?
Gonna get cheap, 12% GST (from earlier >20% tax)
7. Graphics Card?
18%.
8. What all taxes will be eliminated?
Central Excise Duty, Additional Excise Duty, Service Tax, Customs Duty, All Cesses, VATs (no, not Pratyush, Value Added Tax) Entertainment Tax, Luxury Tax, Octroi.
NOTE: PETROL AND DIESEL PRICES AREN’T GONNA DROP OR INCREASE. THEY ALREADY HAVE TAX BEYOND 50%

that news is not correct. Last week when I booked, it was 560 and now when I checked it is 568. Bharatgas – Bangalore. Last week petrol was 67.xx. 2 days back it was 64.xx.
