There is nothing new in that. That's just auto sweep or sweep-in facility and many banks offer that under various names. Premature withdrawal carries a penalty, not sure about other disadvantages.

Premature withdrawl does not carry penalty in most of the auto sweep/flexi FD.
Kotak offers 7% pa fd rate..they usually make FD for 180 days..
