This is the hard truth of IT industry. Most people I know have 9 hours only on papers..actual working can go upto 13-14 hrs per day.

But why state govt is interested in this proposal? just political to divert SC/ST fund scam or MUDA Scam or they are going to gain some taxes?

It's time to move the IT hub from that location asap.

This is a blessing in disguise ...IT workers dont need to invest 1cr+ in a home anymore.

Just buy a cheap tent and setup in a remote corner of the campus or even better get a sleeping bag and sleep under the desk - cuts down the commute time, use the company bathroom and gym, order food from delivery services - no need to shop for silly groceries anymore, no need to own a vehicle either.

Probably to make the companies happy who are upset with the domicile reservation (its put on hold i think)

This is blatant exploitation. Anything more than 8 hours of work (and 2 hours overtime with increased pay) is torture (its already happening but endorsing it legally should be unacceptable).

Problem is of excess supply. So even if companies say that employees need to live in office 24*7, there are still people who are willing to accept.

Govt first proposing to give reservation to locals and then make them work 14+ hrs.

We keep hearing about how automation is being deployed worldwide to reduce the workload of humans and in Karnataka, time is moving backwards where spending Non-Value-Adding time at the office is an option being looked by the Government.

What is the objective of Government: is it peace and prosperity OR just bumping up the numbers for few wealthy people?

Lets simplify the thread heading.

How many are from or work in or know someone who works in IT field in Karnataka?

Are they currently being forced to work for 10hrs? Asking cause current law is 10hrs + 2hrs of max overtime.

I have guys who worked with me previously as well as family member working for IT company in Bengaluru and none of them work for 10hrs as a standard work hours in a day.

I'm ok with overtime in serious situations occasionally but not all the time. The last workplace I left was due to them forcing me (and the rest of our department) to 13-14 hours overtime for a week. My parents got worried as there are no buses working after 7 pm. The last bus go out at 8 pm.

And of perverts roam even in daylight. Nightlight, esp after rush hour is over is just walking in a den of wolves.
