Is This Call from HDFC About a Pre-Approved Credit Card Legitimate?

I received a call from someone claiming to be an HDFC agent. They said that based on my CIBIL score, I am eligible for a pre-approved credit card with no income proof required. They mentioned I could apply online through the HDFC website and offered to guide me through the process. However, I am not currently an HDFC customer and have no existing relationship with the bank.

Could this be a legitimate offer, or is it likely a scam?

I told him I am busy today call me tomorrow.

Agent call, don't apply via them. Try offline via branch executive or directly via hdfc website.

Nothing like scam but this is not pre-approved

That person is just looking for affiliate benifits/agent commission on approval of your application

ITS NOT PRE APPROVED FOR SURE since you are not currently HDFC customer smile

I received a similar call in March, offering me Millenia CC Lifetime Free. It wasn't a pre-approved one, nor was I a HDFC customer at that time. Since they were offering on a card to card basis, I shared my Axis CC statement and after some minor ups and downs while waiting for approval, the card was delivered to me.

In this case, since they're asking you to fill the application yourself, you're not at risk. You'll enter the details by yourself, except for the "agent code" that they'll provide through which they'll earn commissions. It would've been a good deal if they were offering you a LTF CC, but don't do that since you'll then lose the 1500 Amazon Voucher that HDFC is offering if you apply without any agent's help.

I had the same choice in March - apply by myself and earn 1500 voucher, or through the agent and get the card for free and I chose the latter one. Try applying by yourself and if it asks for an income proof and you don't have any, then consider applying through the agent.

How did you completed KYC and submitted KYC documents?

Over Whatsapp, and then a phone call from HDFC for the confirmation of the application submitted. No video KYC, and then another agent visit to the home address. Aadhar, PAN, Photograph and other CC statement..that's it. They didn't ask for anything else. No income docs or ITR, no video KYC.
