Is there an RBI guideline that an UPI id once created can not be deleted?

Any experts who can share details about it as this is new and shocking type of information provided over phone by icici bank customer care.

If we create , link multiple banks to upi in imobile app. It can not be deleted or disabled. If we close an bank account like Jupiter then its upi id will remain live there. That not sounds good.

@romilq To me they say its because of RBI guidelines. Also one of its executive said its because of NPCI scream

@stoptomove Kuch bhi fekte hai yaar. Almost all apps have option to delete or deregister a UPI ID. I have set a cringy one on ICICI and I want to delete it :3

That UPI ID gets deregistered permanently from UPI Platform. No one including you can't use the same UPI ID again.

ICICI people are idiots, they removed the option last year I guess citing some regulations which don't exist. You can deregister any UPI ID & it'll be available to reclaim after 2 years.
