Auction is just a scam.

A scam? That’s an interesting take. Maybe a transparent scam?. The entire process is pretty structured, with analysts, data, and months of planning behind every bid. If it’s a scam, who exactly is benefiting here? The players get paid, teams get their squads, and fans get the drama—sounds like everyone’s winning to me!

Am I missing any news/reports backing that it’s a ‘scam’?

Crores for swinging a bat and peanuts for other sports. Inequality at its best! No surprise we lag behind in the Olympics and other global competitions.

I get where you’re coming from, but I think it’s a bit unfair to reduce cricket to just “swinging a bat.” Cricket, especially in India, is incredibly competitive. The amount of effort, discipline, and talent required to even make it to a domestic level, let alone the IPL, is insane. These athletes train relentlessly for years, navigate intense competition, and face immense pressure to perform on the biggest stages. Dismissing all of that as “swinging a bat” is honestly demeaning to their hard work and dedication.

As for the disparity in pay and attention with other sports—yes, it’s unfortunate, but it’s a reflection of the viewership and fan support cricket commands. It’s not cricket’s fault. If we want other sports to grow, we need to do our part: watch their games, support their players, and promote them just as passionately.

Cricket’s success doesn’t mean other sports can’t thrive. Both can coexist, but we have to give credit where it’s due and acknowledge the sheer effort it takes to succeed in cricket’s fiercely competitive ecosystem.
