Seems to be working perfectly. Getting mails for my alerts without issues.

One possible bug report. Dont know if its my android or gmail or what, but instead of the logo of the site for which I got the alert, all the emails have american swan logo.

but to simplify the process you could have allowed adding multiple keyword in one deal alert, moreover keeping the funtionality of adding more deal alert unchanged. I hope you got what I’m saying.

@admin Is there a direct link in my profile to add/edit alerts or would I have to always follow this particular URL in this particular thread to do so?

Yes but we have kept it separate for good reasons… Lets say i want all recharge deals with more than 10+ Score, ALL Flipkart FPD and Say all Gold coin deals with 0 or more votes…

Each keyword will also have more parameters (rating, forum store, categories and so on) on which you can set alert for… So its always a good idea to create a new deal alert for each new keyword.

Ok. Not exactly working perfectly. Since I created my alert about 24 hours ago, I have received 30 emails. But when I checked the search results of the alert and cross checked with emails, it seems I haven’t got alerts for about 17 of the 40 latest results I got in search. All of those 17 threads were created in the last 24 hours only, ie after I created the alert.

Please look into this admins. Here’s the alert settings. ..

No keywords (left it blank)
5+ VUs
All forums, categories and stores
Alert status: Active
Desktop Alert: email
Alert frequency: instantly

Thanks that was a bug! We have fixed it.

@admin The alert feature is working flawlessly. I love how well thought-out the implementation is. Came back to this thread to thank you.

A few suggestions:

(1) Please make people aware about the importance of not using keywords like “loot” and “trick” without good reasons. I know this a tough nut to crack. But a PM from you to all of the users should help.

(2) The textbox watermarks are getting cropped. Perhaps you can also include the text in tooltips.

(3) Change “Rating” to “Thread Rating” to make the purpose of that data element clear.

(4) Instead of using radio buttons for “Thread Rating”, I think the HTML5 range slider would be better and slicker.

(5) Spelling: “Select Categorys”

(6) Just like the “Thread Rating” filter, perhaps you can add a “Thread Comments/Voices” filter.

1) Lets say you are looking to Buy hard disk next… And want to be alerted whenever some Dimer finds a great deal on it…

=> Simply create a new deal alert with keyword harddisk. Select Rating as 5. Select Forum as Hot Deals Online, Select all stores and all categories. Frequency as instant or daily (Here i would select instant as its a very specific deal which you are looking for) and voila you will soon have some good deals right in your inbox, even if you are not browsing DD every hour…

2) Another Scenario, You love to read about stock market… And would love to participate in such discussions:

=> Simply create a new deal alert with keyword stock market. Select Forum as Dost and Dimes and you will end up having discussions you may enjoy.

3) You want only the FPD instantly in your email.

=> Simply create a new deal alert with no keywords and select FPD under rating. And select frequency as Instant. There you go, you now just have all FPD instantly landing in your inbox.

4) You only love to shop for Grocery…

=> Simply create a new deal alert with categories as Grocery and keyword as blank. And you will end up having all groceries deal in your inbox.

5) You hold a Citibank Credit card and want to make the most out of it.

=> Simply use keyword Citibank to create the deal alert with other parameters as you desire and you can make the most out of your citibank card.

The possibilities are endless… If you make intelligent use of it, I can assume that you would always get the best deal for your needs

Its much more than creating an alert for keyword loot… You can do much beyond that

Simply create a deal alert with keyword Silent Tag and you will know all threads where people are silently tagging other dimers and not tagging you…

I have never used the words ‘Silent tags’ before and recently I have stopped tagging too since there’s channel alerts now . .

You should also create alerts for “Loooot”, “Loooooooott”, and so on.

On a serious note, this keyword will likely yield some of the most useless alerts in the current situation. I am already suffering/benefiting from the “trick” keyword alerts. It’s a catch-22.

Don’t remember exactly who discovered/started this trend to tag people to alert them about a good deal, silently or otherwise. Could have been @opium or me. @Bagpiper might remember. But when we started it, we didn’t use any phrase to mention it. It was either a bunch of visible tags or no visible tags. @nibraselat579 used it most appropriately.

Anyway, with this keyword alert feature and prompt channel alerts, the utility of “silently” tagging on deal alerts has diminished. Sadly, now I have actually started to see a lot of misuse for self-promotion or to promote/support “friends”.

@admin thanks for this feature. I am not active these days on dd a lot so this new feature will be really helpful to get me selective deals for some of my usual shopping sites. Apart from it this is a great way who are looking for deals on a particular product. This might just be the best feature of dd I guess after the whole bunch of smileys created by fellow dimers.

As dealseeker mentioned a filter based on no of comments could also be appreciated.
