Very true. Additionally, police will get another chance to extract more money from people. People can’t stock fresh vegetables for more than 2-3 days.

Just a day ago, police personnel were creating havoc in weekly vegetable market here in Delhi. Vendors and buyers were forcefully asked to go back home. More than corona, political statements and police are creating panic and loot like situations.

We are truly living in horrible times where people have zero common sense and are indifferent to others.

All India lockdown is the most needed thing right now.
some idiots have already started shifting their places.
All types of transports like bus, railways, aeroplanes should be immediately stopped.
National highways also need to be sealed so that people cannot flee or escape.
If situation demands emergency or curfew, impose it..all Indians will get good experience of living like in J&K.

If govt do nothing, there will be another thread hurling abuses. If govt try to do something to keep the risk minimal then also there is a thread we are being forced to be locked. Waah re duniya…

Total lockdown will never happen
This is India (Size: 3.287 million km²) … not Italy or Spain which are of about 1/8th or 1/10th size & 1/30th of the India’s population
Even in china, they haven’t lock down entire country..they only managed to do it for the hubei province which is more or less the size of italy. Even then many people managed to fled wuhan when the news broke out and travelled to their respective countries (For Instance..the very first 1/3 cases reported from kerala..of a 20yr old medical student)
If they try to lock down..it wont be effective.. i mean do we really have the force to keep the system in place with lock down imposed all over the country?
There will be chaos…the rumour/fear mongering is too much already thanks to social messaging apps. People will start fighting for food n water sad
I feel..they might just impose 144 section in some places and probably some fine/legal action on those suspects who skip/runaway from home/hospital isolation and may be mandatory checks (at least thermal snanning) for grocery stores, bus/train/air travel …

“Nothing is going to happen”.
This belief has already done huge damage in other countries and they are paying for it.
When people get scared they don’t do what is needed, mostly they follow what rest of the people are doing.
If people don’t feel safe at particular place, they may try to move, others may also try to follow them.
People are not acting smart and doing some idiotic and stupid moves.
Government can’t just wait and watch.
May be they will impose only sec 144 today.
But if situation does not get under control, total lockdown will be there; sooner or later.
One infected person can spread this virus to hundreds of people.
These is no scope for single mistake, it can cost us unimaginable.
It’s essential that all must follow instructions from officials.
If there is even 1% chance of lockdown then people should be prepared.
Reality is people are not prepared for this.
People must stay at home to stop spreading corona and at the same time prepare for all possible scenarios including total lockdown.

PM won’t announce ‘lockdown’ in today’s address: Prasar Bharati CEO

Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar on Thursday dismissed media speculations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce a lockdown in view of coronavirus outbreak during his address to the nation at 8 pm.

Shekhar called the speculations “incorrect”, stating that it will create unnecessary panic in the minds of people.

“Some media outlets are speculating that PM Modi will announce a lockdown in his address. This information is incorrect. It will also create unnecessary panic in minds of people, which is the last thing we need in times like this,” he tweeted.

The Prime Minister is expected to talk about issues relating to COVID-19 on Thursday at 8 pm and the efforts to combat the pandemic.Earlier in the day, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said it would be disappointed if the government did not announce a total lockdown for a period of 2-4 weeks.

“What will the Prime Minister announce at 8 pm today? I will be disappointed if the PM did not announce a total lockdown, at least of all towns and cities, for a period of 2-4 weeks,” Chidambaram tweeted. He asserted that “anything less will be letting down this country.”

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19 in India. So far, a total of 169 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the country. Three persons have died from the disease. — ANI
