Lets just keep our heads buried in the sand. Everyone can be kept happy that way. Why aren't the people and govt of this country talking about improving all such rankings and indicators, instead of wasting time and efforts on refuting and rejecting all such rankings where we fare badly? The same methodology would have been used for all the participating countries. So what if we are "not that bad" ? What difference would a rank of 90 instead of 100 make? Nothing. For anyone wanting to understand actual situation, there are many statistics to study - child malnutrition, anemia, under 5 mortality, infant mortality, maternal mortality and so on. We do not score very highly in all those either. The first step to solving a problem is to accept that it exists at the first place. Behaving like an ostrich isn't going to change anything in this country. Specially with as many as 1.4 billion ostriches.

Very simple reason for this, derailment of economic reforms since 2012(the year since which India’s performance in hunger index start decreasing) in UPA govt later not corrected by NDA govt despite having the expectations. Sensex performance has nothing to do with economy’s basic parameters which are all in not so good condition.
