ICICI automated call on Credit card transaction

Banks and credit card companies have various means to detect if a payment appears unusual, for example, if the card’s been dormant, and suddenly a huge payment is made, or if the card is used for an international transaction, or a payment is done which is inconsistent with other spending patterns etc. If they do think that a payment seems suspicious, they try and reach out to the customer to confirm the transaction. In some foreign countries, transactions of a highly suspicious nature are even blocked, and cards get declined, while someone from the card company tries to contact the owner.

So, yes, the practice is well known, but don’t confirm any confidential details like OTP etc. These are Yes/no calls.

Hdfc do this for Debit card transactions Too..

ICICI has done this with me a couple of times. Mostly for international transactions (which I rarely do, so makes sense) and also for ATM withdrawals and PoS swipes at unusual locations (for example when I went to a trip to a different part of the country, it detected as something unusual and this makes sense too). This is all AI based and good for security.

i used to get IVR calls for my Apay ICICI card online transaction where amount is greater than 25k to 30k above

I did transaction and was authenticated using OTP and card grid numbers. Then ICICI IVR called my mobile (where I got OTP) to re-confirm that I did the transaction!!!
