How to Prevent falls and fractures in older adults

I have a grandma (95+)

who was very active and doing

even household chores.

(not staying with me but she calls me

twice a day ,In fact about 40 calls a day ,

she remembers all these numbers. I can't

remember her  number.) (plus few video calls

from other phones)

Recently she had a fall , but, buy

God’s grace escaped without any

fractures.(I visited her and she actually

fed me even now  )

But she was in pains and her mobility

is visibly reduced but she is not prepared

to accept it . She still like to have her

great grandchildren (twins ) jump over her

She still goes to restrooms of her own

or does not allow herself in diapers.

(unlike earlier in walkers now)

Can you guys suggest ways in which she

(a kid if offended))can be protected to stay

without any further fall.

( protections in place , removed all sharp

objects from bathroom, non slippery tiles ,

has handrails )

I would like to hear actual cases of people

who have helped an elderly

I envy you OP. Lucky you are. I had my grandma lived for 99 yrs , active still her last breath. The best possible thing is, someone has to accompany her to most places, except a few. They wanted to live like that. Yeah! Good hand stick always helps as their legs will be weak and mind will be very active. May GOD give her "POORNAYU".

She wants to upgrade her existing

Jiophone  which she says is of

inferior quality . Can you guys

suggest another basic  phone with

just number pads,

(In the mean while I ordered

another jiophone as she is

comfortable with that. Her grand

kids just throws them )

She wants her freedom . it is not always possible to accompany her

She even wants the bathrooms to be closed . Though she is not locking them
nowadays.

It comes at a cost, but if you're genuinely interested in implementing preventive measures, consider installing handrails around the bathroom walls, in their bedroom and at the entrance and exit of the house.

These are common areas where older adults are likely to fall and injure themselves.

hmm my suggestion will be put some rubber mats around in floors where you think there is slippery shine showing up in floor, that will help in walking grip, put more rubber mats as possible in home floor where ever possible

also rubber mats will prevent some impact even if fallen on them , if the rubber matt is thick enough
