I have already written some articles on share market, broker etc. Let's not make the matter any more complicated. I will assume that you have basic understanding of jargons used in this field. Now you have finally decided to buy a stock.
Which one to buy?
https://www.nseindia.com/market-data/live-equit... and
https://www.bseindia.com/sensex/co...6/ are your friends. Please prefer the SENSEX one as SENSEX has only 30 stocks and NIFTY 50 has 50 stocks. You pick a stock randomly and do your analysis and just buy it. No need to ask for any advice or anything like that.
Why NIFTY 50 or SENSEX?
The top finance experts have included those stocks in those top lists, which is followed by many including mutual funds. Those stocks have presumably have good fundamentals, volume, relatively low volatility.
Is there any other kind of list available?
Yes. There is another list.
https://www1.nseindia.com/content/fo/fo_underly... This is a very outdated looking website of NSE itself. It is a list of all companies those are listed in FNO segment. You go there and find one for yourself. We will not deal with company analysis in this page, at least not on the content part of this topic. On the comments part, we will see.
You can find these lists on
https://www.nseindia.com/market-data/live-equit... .
Factors to look before choosing a scrip
+
Volatility+ Try choosing a less volatile one. Less volatility will give you some confidence. In market lingo the term is beta. +Beta+ is defined here
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing... . You need low beta stocks. There is a list in this website
https://www.nseindia.com/market-data/live-equit... . The title is high alpha low volatility 30. Check this out.

Don't worry I merely copied and pasted from the .csv file of that index. It is easy and it is definitely not a genius level thing.
+UC and LC and risks associated with FNO listed stocks+
Well in order to protect investors from sudden sharp fall exchanges deploy circuit breakers. If there are more sellers and price is falling like crazy and exchange decides to apply some circuit breaker then it is said that LC has been hit. Similarly, if a stock rises indefinitely then upper circuit is applied. It means trading in that +SCRIP+ (That means name of the stock, Example +INFY+ stands for Infosys) trading has been paused for that day. Every stock has a price band limit. If they breach any of the price bands trading will be halted for the remaining session of the market. Capisce!
Ex:
Source: Kite, Scrip name: Tarsons.
Every stock has its UC / LC and NSE lists them. Example:
https://www.nseindia.com/get-quotes/equity?symb...
But those bands are not applicable for stocks in FNO list. Remember Yes bank, PC Jewellers case? Despite of falling more than 20% in intraday session they kept on falling more.
So, please do your due research before buying. Avoid those scrips who hit LC and UC on regular intervals. You might become a victim of Pump and Dump scheme
Volume and NSE vs BSE
Well, without volume you won't be able to exit from a stock.
Source: Kite, Scrip Name: Globalvectra, 5 min chart
In the above Scrip, there is not enough liquidity.
Both NSE and BSE host stocks. But stocks listed on NSE have better volume than those listed on BSE. For a long term investor, it does not really matter from which exchange one buys one's stock. But to be on safe side always pick NSE.
