Hi,

Kind of feeling low and stressed right now.

I am in customer support ( Total 4 years customer support experience ) right now.  I want to switch to Data Analytics , I Know now this field is very saturated and it's tough to find job, but I did not imagined that it's going to be that tough.

I have learned SQL, Power BI, Excel, Python (Pandas, plt, sns), Web-Scrapping ( bs4, Selenium). I have studied all of this to the level that few people who are currently working in data analyst role told me to. I have also made projects  4 SQL, 7 Power BI, 3 Python ( web scrapping + Pandas + Data analysis).

I have tried my best to align my  naukri profile with the Data analysis ( You can look at my resume to know more ), But still I am not getting any calls. I update my naukri profile everyday. Still It shows that my profile is showing up more in these keywords, whereas I have removed them from the profile.

image

Can anybody help me to optimise my naukri profile.  So that at least it will stop showing my profile under customer support results.

Till now I have received around 2-3 calls all were for Data entry and MIS associate role. I even cleared an MIS interview they just asked me vlookup, hlookup, aggregate function, importedrange(Google sheets). But salary they are offering is very low, My family financial condition doesn't allows me to settle below 25k, they were offering 23k only also I just don't want to join a role that will not help, as the end goal is becoming, Data scientist/ AI Engineer. I want some role where I will get to learn, new challenges. I just don't want to keep on just writing vlookup.

Also, on naukri, now a days many data entry jobs are being marketed as MIS analyst.

My resume ATS score is not showing that good I don't understand what more should I improve.

image

I don't know why but somehow I started hating my resume, I don't like to make one or edit it. I just like to make projects, but then I don't understand why I don't have the courage to put it on LinkedIn or make a portfolio website.  I feel writing the readme file of project is boring.

Please help me in overcoming all of these, How I could feel more motivated. A dimer had earlier helped me and also told me that it's take 3-6 months ( I have only spent 1 month till now). So, I know that I have patiently wait and keep on applying but I don't know why I am getting depressed even after knowing that it will take time.

Also, if anyone has any referral then please help me.

I am in Delhi, Gurugram and Noida are hiring locations here.

@Stone_man -- I assume that you are working in a call center, night shifts and face US customers and your profile is non-tech customer support and you have good command over verbal and written communication (English).

My 2 cents on bases of my assumptions.

  1. Be ready to relocate, say Pune/Mumbai.
  2. Try and get an entry into the Tech. company. Again not tech customer support profile.
  3. Spend sometime and the look within for an IJP (Internal Job Posting).

Good luck.

Yes absolutely right.

1. Aren't there jobs in Delhi? Honestly speaking relocating to somewhere is not possible right now because of family financial conditions, and I don't think that any company is going to pay that much to a fresher that will be sufficient for paying rent at 2 places, Delhi & Mumbai.  I am 24

2. That's what I want, but how to do that?  I have seen majority IT companies hire only b tech holders as freshers for data analyst profile and I have done bsc that too from correspondence.

3. Already spent a year here, I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon here. Actually this company only hires for customer support profile in India, for rest of the profiles they hire in manilla or dubai, I don't know why but this is how it is. Every IT guy is either in Romania or dubai or Manilla.

But thanks for help.

My humble suggestion is this is not the right moment to switch jobs because its where economic slow down is starting to show up pain and even Intel cut jobs in US

so think about india , save your current job instead of switching to another:))

try job switching and career switching once the economy is little better

for now keep your current job safe

the best suggestion i can think of is "do side job" or "side gig" or "side hussle" to current job without losing current job in this job loss market

Hey buddy, I know things feel tough right now, and it's totally okay to feel down. But remember, everyone hits roadblocks. The job market's a bit crazy right now, even for experienced folks. It's frustrating, I get it.

But listen, I truly believe in you. You've got what it takes to land your dream job. It might not be happening today or tomorrow, but it will happen. Keep your head up, keep applying, and keep learning.

When you do get that interview, own it! Sell yourself hard. And mate, a little positive mindset can go a long way. It's easier said than done, I know, but try to focus on the good stuff. Be a fighter muscle

My sister has worked as an HR so I feel I can add a few things here so these would be my courteous suggestions:

1. Naukri Search shows up profiles based on the current job profile of the candidate so since presently you are working as a CS & of course, you must've rightly mentioned that in your current Naukri job profile. Thus the portal may not be connecting you with the DA recruiters.

So if its not working (despite optimising profile for data analyst jobs too):
1. Create a fresh Naukri account with another phone number ideally.
2. In this new Naukri Job profile, do not mention CS exp (do add it in your attached resume but also mention your skills + projects done in DA
Because resumes get scanned and if they do not have terms recruiters are looking for, it get rejected by their automation itself and we are creating this profile specifically for DA jobs so DA keywords have to be there)
3. Optimise this new profile only for data analyst jobs (portray yourself as a fresher as in with no prior work exp in the same field which I am assuming is true)
4. Since this profile would be more focused on DA jobs, you will likely start getting more relevant calls, etc
5. When a recruiter reaches out to you & asks. Simply tell them you want to make a fresh start of your career in DA & your prior exp in CS.
6. If needed, be truthful about why you chose to create 2 diff naukri profiles (though that shouldn't be a problem to most recruiters if the candidate is honest & can provide proof of their work, etc)

also make sure you have enabled these settings in Naukri:

Open Naukri in desktop: Click on your profile icon >> Settings >> Select Immediately Looking for a Job option >> make sure all the options in it are ticked right.

since my previous msg has become too lengthy to read and I do not wish to overwhelm you (you may pls take your time & feel free to respond/not respond) Just wanted to add one last thing, I feel you are trying too hard to get smthg which is naturally going to require some amount of time as suggested by some other courteous dimers as well.

Maybe start from 0 tomorrow and possibly try to slow down a bit.. (applying to 50 jobs & not getting any results is more exhausting than encouraging) Reduce the number a bit until you know you are in a better state of mind to take up some hits & misses. Approaching all of this with a bit more practicality, patiently and perhaps a bit of self-love could help I feel:)

All the best

That's what I actually want to do. I know eventually it's going to happen someday within next 6 months. I want to be very realistic, that why I chose 6 months as my target.

I will try to calm myself.

Do you have any tips on how I could motivate myself to write Readme files on github and create posts on linkedin showcasing my project. Presentation is a crucial part on DA job, but somehow I tend to ignore it the most. Every youtuber suggests to keep on continuously posting on linkedin. I have made around 10 projects but have not  created a single post on linkedin. Projects on github are also lying without any readme file.  I find it very boring to make ppt to write about the project. Also, maybe as they are just copy pasted from youtube so I think I feel like that I have done nothing. I don't feel that much accomplishment.  Not sure, how I could fix this thing.

Also, to make it clear, I actually download dataset and then just note down all the questions, and solve them by myself either by writing SQL, Python code or by creating charts in Power BI. But still it feels like that I am not doing much.

@Stone_man dm buddy .

I am in the same boat just like you .

I Will connect you with right set of group who is solely for data analytics domain .It's free group but lots of connection and solid community on LinkedIn and whatsapp.

They do all other nonsense also like promotion and things but you will get good grasp of market ,resume review ,and more than that a good network .

Delhi has lots of opportunities ,you have to build yourself a strong connection on LinkedIn also .

I can connect you with that group of people .

Rest it's up to you how you do things while managing your job .

Software driven market is done. New software technologies aren't yielding much returns now.

This era belongs to HARDWARE. Any new device in the market is driving customers mad. Even if the device is imported/copied from developed countries, its gaining attraction in India.

My two cents!
