How to Improve Desidime? (A Discussion Post)
I wanted to bring up a few issues and suggestions to improve the overall experience on Desidime, particularly for all users & group owners :
1️⃣ Notification Issue:
There’s a recurring problem where group owners are not receiving notifications when co-owners post. This issue has been confirmed by others, including @Hasdachehra . It’s important for group management to function smoothly, so fixing this would be a significant improvement.
2️⃣ Group Broadcast Limits:
For groups with many subscribers, especially those focused on grocery deals (❤️🔥 MRP Mukt Mandal ❤️🔥), it would be great if the broadcast limit could be increased to accommodate the larger audience.
•• Additionally, it would be very helpful to have a feature on both the website and app that shows how many broadcasts are left for the day. For example, if the default limit is 10, it could display "10 broadcasts left" when posting, so we can easily manage our remaining quota for the day.
•• Currently, we have to manually ask co-owners how many broadcasts were sent, which is quite hectic. Having this feature would streamline the process significantly.
3️⃣ Group Deletion Setting:
I previously requested a change to the group deletion setting. Currently, the delete option is too prominent when viewing a group. I almost accidentally deleted my group once, and it could be catastrophic if a group with thousands of subscribers—like @Luciferous 's—were to be deleted by mistake. Although there’s a confirmation step, I believe the delete option should be moved inside the group settings, rather than being on the main display.
4️⃣ Follow Notifications:
It would be great to have an option to receive notifications whenever someone we follow posts something. For example, if a user like @babubeg @BILLA007 posts, I’d want to get notified immediately. This feature would help us stay updated on posts from our favorite creators without missing out. It doesn't have to be for everyone, but it could be an optional setting where we can choose to follow someone and receive notifications about their updates. This would enhance user engagement and interaction on the platform, much like similar features on Facebook or other social media platforms.
5️⃣ Community-Driven Moderation System:
Introducing a system where posts that receive 10+ downvotes are automatically put into moderation and hidden could help reduce the spread of potentially low-quality or spammy content. This would maintain the quality of posts on the platform. Additionally, the ability to downvote could be reserved for users with higher ranks, like Deal Subedar and above. These experienced users could act as a first line of moderation, deciding which posts deserve visibility and which should be reviewed.
This system would:
•• Enhance user engagement by giving trusted members more responsibility.
•• Foster a more community-driven moderation process.
•• Improve efficiency in reducing spam and low-quality content.
•• This system would not only curb spam but also limit users who post 10-20 deals back-to-back—possibly using bots—to gain Karma or dimes. Community-based moderation would prevent these spammy posts from flooding the Hot Deals section, leaving it up to the main moderators or admins to decide whether these posts should be promoted.
Overall, this approach would ensure the platform remains a valuable and high-quality resource for all users.
6️⃣ Chat-Bug:
The chat section has several issues where messages aren't displayed accurately. For instance, when chatting with someone, the messages don’t appear in the correct order and show up in random spots instead of the most recent area. Unless I manually refresh the chat, I can't see the latest messages properly. Additionally, after the recent update, messages sometimes appear twice, which adds to the confusion. Fixing this would ensure a smoother and more accurate messaging experience for users.

double notification in app 😣
I am only seeing only previous 10 chat conversation rest of em are not getting loaded.
The UI feels outdated, dull n boring, like using an app on Symbian or BlackBerry OS back in 2014
I get it, the UI does feel outdated.
A good UI attracts users and keeps them engaged, so it’s definitely important.!!!!
the ability to downvote could be reserved for users with higher ranks, like Deal Subedar and above.
Not from Deal subedar but increase and make it from Deal Captain or Deal Majors my reason for saying this i observed yesterday itself where a deal lieutenenat was playing around in the name of hot deals and posted something else i hope majority of us are aware of what was posted by the user.
I would not like to the name that user or to provide his/her post Links
Fix notification issue, I miss deals because of it.
Can you elaborate where you are facing the problem?
When we open a thread , it's hard to figure out what was the latest reply on that main thread since now DD has introduced the replies concept and makes a mini thread. If there was an option to check the latest reply it would've been good.
I created a work around for notification issue for co-owners by creating another account and then subscribing to the group so that I can receive all notifications from that group. 😄
Can we use the dual app feature to create another ID and use both on a single phone, just to receive notifications from posts made by the other co-owner? Otherwise, it's difficult to use two phones simultaneously. Does that work for you, bro?
+ @bumblefoot , this would be allowed, right???
Dont change the look and feel too much takes long time to adjust
Discord/Slack like free flow chat with multiple moderated channels like #credit-card #mobile-deals-android #bill-payment etc.
First thing first.
Improve desisime ios app. I can't even imagine how poor it is
Downvote button should not be available till the user opens the deal detailed page.
I often end up hitting downvote by mistake.
OP , you enjoy consuming or gifting all the L00ts you have L00ted and don't worry about these things.
Keep me atleast posted about L00ts. Because I don't trust the notifications just like " Hello 🤗 I am calling from xyxyxyx... company"
For Me the first four points (1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣4️⃣), they are the most important concerns. Most importantly, the 'delete' option should be removed from display. No one wants a quick delete option for a group they've worked so hard to create 💔
I have few suggestions. Some of that I think would be appropriate for this topic.
One of which is:
assigning a location ( a city or disctrict in a State) to our own profile. So when location time sensitive deals ( Loot deals/ flash deals) come for that location, specific people can be quickly notified. That way maximum DD users can utilise the deal.
If a product deal or grocery deal is also available in other locations Dimers should have some way to quickly add it to the list locations that deal is available.
The simplest implementation I can think of is... Having reserved user ID for all the metro cities.
Like "@Kolkata" "@Bangalore" etc. If a ( location specific) deal is available there, dimers can tag that username ( City username) in a deal, that would sent alerts to the Dimers of that City. Atleast ones who wants to get such location specific alerts.
I have few more such suggestions, I need to work on the finer details.
That’s a great suggestion! Adding a location-specific feature could really enhance the user experience. For instance, when posting a deal, there could be a column indicating if it’s specific to a location like Mumbai or Delhi. Users could update their settings to receive more targeted deals based on their preferences. This would create a more personalized experience for everyone.
+ We’d love to hear more of your suggestions! Please share them when you can! ♥️
Need more 'deal alert' spaces
Delay in notification to be fixed !
Mujhe ek din ka Admin bana do ( reference Nayak movie)
-> Pension for old dimers and Diwali bonus for new dimers..... 🫣
For one, they can stop collapsing replies by default. I feel they were introduced to HIDE information. If you have to share a secret message on Desidime that you don't want to make too popular, post it as a reply
VU+ for the interesting topic
Thanks for all your suggestions guys, let me discuss this with team and get back to each n every suggestion shared here.
Don't provide newbies with the ability to give negative Karma, I was just kidding there
Hope you had a nice festive weekend Sir
Give -ve karma points to all who raise questions on DD . 😌
Biggest issue is the sorting of hot deals - missed out many good deals with lots of upvotes because they don't appear at the top during sales. It should be like Slickdeals and Dealnews.
